It wasn't a clear day but there are still amazing views over Lough Derg. On a sunny day, it must be spectacular. There is a 6km looped walk, mostly on quiet roads and not very muddy. The actual site itself is quite low-key and hopefully there'll be a project in the future to enhance it and give more information about how and when the stones were put in place. You have to drive to get there or have a very long walk from Killaloe/Ballina. The roads immediately approaching it are very winding and single-tracked so you may have to reverse to a passing point. A few idiots driving far too fast round bends on those roads.

Steeped in history, well worth a visit. On site parking & the graves are withing a short walk. Fantastic views of Lough Derg below & even has some lucky 3 leaf clover (Shamrock ) growing outside the ancient graveyard. Well worth the treck, you will be spoilt by the beauty of it all. Great way to relax and get away from.the stresses of the world. On tour way down, visit Garykennedy and stroll along the banks of lough Derg through the woods, plenty of picnic sites & a great little play area for the little ones.

Park at the graves of the Leinstermen but do the hike up to millennium cross. It’s about 4km out and back. Beautiful for a sunset at this time of the year. Especially with the flowers still in bloom and the moon rising. It can get windy at the cross but generally the hill to get up to the cross will warm you up! If you’re slow and going for sunset make sure to bring a headlamp for the walk back! It’s a good trail but it’s uneven underfoot in many areas.

Beautiful fantastic scenery I walked to the cross but as it was my 1st hike I found no signs telling me where to go from the cross, so I decided I'd go down behind the cross, a very steep assent, which brought me onto a roadway, again no signage showing which direction to head in, so I went right facing a ditch, it just took me to a crossroads onto a main road, I turned around headed back the road from where I cam and came across a sign leading me into fields to continue on another trail, the only way to return to my car was to continue back up the steep hill I had just come down, absolutely exhausted I was and as it was getting dark, I didn't even get to visit the graves. MORE INFORMATION and more signage needed for 1st...

Very easy find. It's just off the side of the road at the start of the walking trail. If you decide to do the loop walk I would advise wearing water proof footwear as some of the trail had a very small stream of flowing water running down it the day I visited. Now I mean it was 3mm deep at most but still it would be enough to wet your feet if you had the wrong footwear. The hike to the top of the hill is probably about 2kms but there isn't any parts it really levels out until the top. Very nice views from the top and it is well worth it. I would go to...
