First thing if you want safr extra 2km park your car in upper lake parking is closer. Second thing if you go face to lake you have few trials one most popular and faster is on the left hand side you will go up to the top faster but if you like more empty trial is on the right hand side of the lake is way longer as you need around 1h 30m to go up to the other side of the lake as you start from right side and all view on the lake is on left side of the lake but i thing is worth it. Half way is super easy then you get to some stons stairs with some small waterfall with view to lake then when you nearly up this right side of the hill you have Woody Bridge on the left go up and then Woody patch straight up to the top of the mountain. Last part i think is easy and you will see group of deers:) i will say both side of this trial you can do full round on this lake with max 3h enjoy some foto of the part of Black trial we did enjoy ;) fotos shows step by step of this black trial from upper lake to the top there is coffee shop ice cream and some fries burgers hot-dogs and toilets parking cost 4e...

Parked here to do the miners loop ,basically a loop of the lake with some high climbs and descents. We went on a sunny Saturday and were v lucky to only wait a couple minutes for a space in what was otherwise a full carpark. Entrance a fiver. Food vans and coffee shops in carpark, acceptable toilets...but the whole thing is about the scenery which is frankly stunning...from the climb to get to the boardwalk part to wild deer roaming as you descend into the miners village, stopping to have a sandwich and take in the vista...3 hrs well spent and a very rewarding experience. We travelled a good few hrs to get there and would do it again...also worth taking in the monastic bit as well if you've time but foe ua it was all about the hike...easy to see why early Christians built here... a wonder of creation is all I could describe...

Absolutely great location. Stunning from the ground or from the walks. Toilets are available. There’s a few food trucks too and some picnic benches but there’s no covering from the rain. Costs €5 to park (cash or card). There’s an information centre where you can get a free map and advice on the hikes. You can also walk to the lower lake car park and the round tower as if you leave and drive you’ll have to pay to park again apparently as they’re both managed by different companies - stupid idea. I think that walk is about 1.5km but worth it! Highly recommend...
