The Medieval Museum, as the name suggests, is focused on the medieval period in Waterford. It incorporates two very old Medieval rooms - a 13th century Choristers' Hall, where presumably the choir practiced and preformed, and the Mayor’s Wine Vault from the 15th century. The tour starts in the Medieval chambers in the basement level with Choristers’ Hall dating from 1270. On the second floor, the Tour of Devotion hosts a collection of religious artifacts and statues. There's a model of what Waterford looked like in 1480, which makes it very easy to see the Viking Triangle laid out. I found the Vestments Room the least interesting. Depends on what you like. A guided tour is available which takes about 45 minutes, or you can roam the museum on your own. If you don't have enough time to view everything, they allow you to come back another day at no extra charge!

Well I went to the museum on such a day when a tour guide was off duty, I went up and down alone but the receptionist was bit of help to me. A smiley young lady, though I would recommend a tour guide when visiting the museum, I guess with his/her help one may learn a lot, as opposed when you are just fumbling alone! But I must say the museum is rich in history, I learnt a lot in regard to the Irish community, their dispensation. The Vikings when they invaded Waterford. It’s an interesting place to visit! It also has a cave, I was so so frighten, thinking it would collapse on me and I will die and be buried. They have screens where you can watch a bit of what may be documentaries though it has been cartooned! But otherwise it’s the best museum

We didn't have nearly enough time here, but it was our while to have even a short visit! The guided tour was excellent; our tour guide showed us the highlights of the collection and gave us a brief and very amusing history of Waterford to put the exhibits in context. (Irish tour guides really do have the gift if gab -- he was not the first guide to make laugh while explaining history of tax policies!) The museum is built on some very old, carefully conserved buildings - this means a few scary stairs, and some rough floors. If you can manage those, they are worth seeing! But if not, there is plenty that is elevator accessible, including the amazing Cloth of Gold vestments.

Loved, loved it!! Great Museum, full of very interesting facts and displays. It ranges from the Vikings in Waterford to the many Kings and Queens who ruled over us. The had amazing Viking pottery and swords on display also amazing scrolls sent from England from Henry the viii, James the i and Charles the ii. They also have on display unbelievably beautiful ceremonial robes the priests and bishops used to wear the detail was very fine and exquisite. If you are in Waterford and you are a little geeky you will enjoy the Medieval Museum, great for kids and is interactive. Go around the museum by yourself or there are tour guides to take you around each section.

This trip to Waterford was one of the very first times to venture around the streets and enjoy the views of the ancient viking city that it is. As we walked around we viewed some really nice artifacts, buildings, boats and museums and the likes, we went into the medievil museum in the viking triangle, steeped in history. The museum is built around a very old viking building that goes back to 1200's which had a wine cellar and church inside lots of viking information, from town maps, clothing, weapons etc. We had a wonderful time and it only cost 10 to enter and you would need a long time to read all info on display. Really lovely place to vist.

This is a beautifully erected museum that pays homage to the incredible history of Waterford and Ireland as a whole. I started at the top and worked my way down. Each floor offers a different part of history, many, many, artifacts to experience. It was during this visit I realized I did not allow myself near enough time to take in all the amazing history this city has made available. It’s truly remarkable what they have created at the triangle. Inside the museum is a little gift store with books, souvenirs and such. They where out of my name 😖. Murphy’s law..
