Church of Heptapegon, The Seven Springs: 28-350 AD The Judeo-Christians of Capernaum venerated a large rock upon which Jesus is said to have laid the bread and the fish before he fed the five-thousand (Mk 6:30-44). 350 AD Used as an altar, the rock was the very center of the first church at this site, built by a Jewish nobleman from Tiberias. Oriental communities venerated him as Saint Josipos. The church was built in close alignment with the ancient Via Maris. 480 AD A Byzantine church with an unusual transept was erected. Its floor is of great artistic value. The building and its mosaics reveal Egyptian influence. The historic rock, reduced in size, was moved and placed beneath the altar. 614 AD During the Persian invasion the Heptapegon Church was destroyed and faded into oblivion. After the Muslim conquest (638 AD) Christian activity ceased around the lake for centuries. 1932 The ancient church ruins, hiddden for 1300 years, were excavated by Father Andreas Evarist Mader SDS and his team. The mosaics were found surprisingly, to be to a large extent intact. 1980/82 The ancient Byzantine basilica was reconstructed on its original foundations by the architects Anton Goergen and Fritz Baumann (Deutscher Verein vom Heiligen Lande, Cologne/Germany).

The site's name is derived from the Greek name Heptapegon ("seven springs"). Its pronunciation gradually changed to "Tabego", and was eventually changed to "Tabgha" by the Arabic speakers. St. Jerome referred to Heptapegon as "the solitude" (eremos).[citation needed] In the Byzantine period, the water of the springs at Heptapegon was collected in three water towers (Birket Ali edh-Dhaher at Ein Nur Spring, Hammam Ayyub, and Tannur Ayub) and sent via an aqueduct to the Plain of Ginosar, where it was used for irrigation; the three towers seem to be recorded in the mosaic floor of the 5th-century Church of the Multiplication at Tabgha.[3][4] A map from Napoleon's invasion of 1799 by Pierre Jacotin showed Tabgha, marked by the word Moulin (mill in French).[5] The 4th-century tower-like octagonal reservoir at Ein Nur Spring and the aqueduct it connected to are traditionally attributed to Ali, a son of the 18th-century ruler Dhaher (or Zahir) al-Umar). The reservoir is locally known as Birket Ali edh-Dhaher, "Pool of Ali edh-Dhaher". The Palestine Exploration Fund's 1881 Survey of Western Palestine (SWP) stated that the masonry of the structures indicates an Arab origin, thus agreeing with this tradition.[6] Picture 1904

Iar El le-a zis: Aruncati mreaja in partea dreapta a corabiei si veti afla. Iisus i-a zis: Paste oile Mele. (Ioan 21, 1-19)

I recently visited Taghba, the church of multiplication, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you. I really enjoyed the mosaic floor - it's ancient and intricate. And then there's the rock where (supposedly) the miracle occurred - that's just mind-blowing even though its just speculation! The good vibes of the place just added to the overall experience. One thing I really appreciated about Taghba is that it's still not very commercial. You know how you feel that all the religion sites in Israel are packed with gift shops? Well, that's not the case here. It's just a simple, beautiful place where you can connect with your spirituality. Overall, I had a great time at Taghba and I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a spiritual experience in a beautiful location. So if you're in the area, make sure to stop by and check it out!

To feed the crowd of five thousand people Jesus performed a miracle sharing the meager two fish and five loaves between all the people. The Biblical reference does not mention Tabgha by name but calls it a remote place on the shores of Galilee. The Church of the Multiplication is a modern structure built on the remains of the 4th-century church. The highlight of the church is the Byzantine floor mosaic which survived after the original church’s destruction in 685. Beneath the altar of the Church of the Multiplication is a large rock where it is thought that Jesus placed the fish and loaves as he blessed them. There is a glass panel in the floor through which you can see the foundations of the original church.

I recently visited The Church of the Multiplication and was blown away by the beauty and serenity of the place. The church is located in a stunning setting on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and the architecture is simply breathtaking. As soon as I stepped inside, I was struck by the sense of peace and calm that permeated the space. The interior of the church is decorated with intricate mosaics and frescoes, and the atmosphere is one of quiet contemplation. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the Church of the Multiplication. It is a place of true beauty and spiritual depth, and I believe that anyone who visits will leave feeling uplifted and inspired.
