We visited Corte Capitani on the 25th of May, had what we thought was a great experience, paid for wines and olive oil to be shipped back to London, and never received anything. This entire situation left us feeling absolutely cheated.
TOTAL PAID: €257 (Receipt photo attached for proof)
For all the charming talk during the tasting, the owner’s follow-through was appalling. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of integrity is astonishing. Have never felt so swindled by a business. Jan was perfectly happy to take our money and send us off with grand assurances, but when it came time to deliver what we paid for, he vanished.
We followed up multiple times, politely, through WhatsApp and email. First, Jan made excuses about delays, now we’re being completely ignored. It’s been weeks with no update, no tracking, no product, and no accountability.
The vineyard talks big game about tradition, family values, and quality, but behind the scenes, the customer service tells a different story. We trusted them, paid in full, and have nothing to show for it except chasing them around like it’s our problem.
We’ll be raising this as a formal dispute through our bank and pursuing a chargeback. If you do visit here, do not pay with cash or debit. Use a credit card so you have some form of protection.
Otherwise save yourself the trouble entirely and go to one of the other wineries in the area. For example, Zeni Wine Museum or Cantine Lenotti are nearby alternatives with great Google reviews.

Bottom line: This place may have a beautiful view, but in light of our experience, it’s simply not worth the risk. Avoid getting burned like we did and choose a winery that actually delivers on...
Read moreOur family had a lovely afternoon at Corte Capitani! It was one of the highlights of our time in Bardolino. The grounds are beautiful and the vibe is very welcoming & relaxing. We were fortunate to get to spend a lot of time with Jan, the co-owner/winemaker, to learn about his approach to wine making - and to get "the story" behind each wine. The wines were very good -- and Jan introduced us all to a new phrase that we have repeated several times throughout our time in Italy now... "not too serious" ... perfect way to describe a delicious wine for daytime lakeside enjoyment.
I wish we had come hungry because the charcuterie board looked amazing. Wendy's "famous" focaccia lived up to the hype - we sampled a few pieces... but again, wish we had come with a bigger appetite to really appreciate the wonderful food available to eat with the wine tastings.
We bought several bottles back home and hope that when we drink them, they can transport us back to our wonderful afternoon at Corte Capitani. If successful, we hope to place an order and have bottles...
Read moreAfter visiting Corto Capitani, there was a pleasant aftertaste! An interesting and innovative approach to winemaking! The entire line of wines is required for tasting and buying! Very interested in wines from PIWI grape varieties categorical IGT! First time tried! PIWI is a complex subject requiring courage and curiosity from growers and connoisseurs.
Solaris - IGT Bianco Veneto! in our opinion it is worth paying attention! Straw yellow in color with good intensity, Solaris opens with very ripe fruity aromas with slight floral and herbal undertones. Perfectly balanced wine! You can drink immediately and buy for later: it has the potential for storage! What we did after tasting a line of wines from PIWI varieties: BRONNER, Johanniter, Solaris! 👍 And in combination with delicious focaccia from Wendy and an interesting story by Jan!
Your hospitality! Quality of wine! Thanks Wendy and Jan! You put your soul into everything you do in your Corte Capitani. Thanks a lot! We will come back to try and buy your wines! And will invite...
