Timmelsjoch — Attraction in Burggrafenamt - Burgraviato

One of those many must do's, whether for motorcycle riders, people by car or even "pedalists".

The road is very nice, enough curves and hairpins to make it enjoyable, not too technical but caution is a sensible idea. If you're lucky with the weather, mountain and valleys will open up fantastic vistas.

For motorcycle riders: here as elsewhere, riding in both directions will give entirely different experiences. So also with the Timmelsjoch...

Scenograficamente parlando, il paesaggio che si può godere nel percorrere questo Passo alpino è MERAVIGLIOSO!!! La strada si inerpica per 26 km a partire da San Leonardo, l'ultimo paesino della Val Passiria ( che poi scende fino a Merano..), dove è posto il bivio...nella vallata di destra si arriva al Passo Giovo e poi si scende a Vipiteno, proseguendo dritti si arriva appunto in cima al Passo del Rombo, a più di 2500 m di quota...subito dopo il Passo, c'è una prima discesina corta e subito si risale con un altro dentello che porta alla barriera di pedaggio austriaca ( l'ultima volta erano 12 €. in moto, ma sono passati un paio d'anni..) che permette di scendere nella Valle di Solden e poi ancora giù fino ad incrociare l'autostrada che da Innsbruck porta a Bregenz, per poi quindi, volendo, rientrare in Italia o da Landeck e il Passo Resia o da Innsbruck e il Passo del Brennero ( o l'autostrada).... da S.Leonardo la strada è stretta ma non al livello di Vivione o Gavia, qui due auto incrociandosi passano sempre, e bisogna sempre fare attenzione, sarebbe sensato non esagerare col gas, e cosi facendo si potrà apprezzare in toto la bellezza e maestosità della montagna...dopo il casello di pedaggio austriaco invece diventa larghissima e comodissima, un'autostrada in confronto al versante italiano... sopra tira sempre un vento fortissimo, piacevole in piena estate ma freddissimo, gelido in primavera e autunno...Vista Magnifica, da provare...

Die Passstraße ist ein absolutes Muß für Radsportler. Die Auffahrt von St. Leonard aus, ist für mich die wesentlich spektakulärere Variante. Die Überfahrt nach Österreich allerdings für KFZ Mautpflichtig (gilt für beide Richtungen, wobei hier die Österreicher wieder einmal den Spitzenpreis verlangen). Dafür ist die Straße auf der österreichischen Seite mit einem besseren Belag versehen. Schließlich fährt man durch das edle Skiresort Sölden (KüsschenKüsschenKüsschen). Bei der Auffahrt von italienischer Seite, sollte man sein Rad mit einer Beleuchtung versehen. Es gibt etliche Tunneldurchfahrten und wenn man die Passhöhe fast schon erreicht hat, durchfährt man einen 555 m langen Tunnel, der zwar gut beleuchtet ist, aber die eigene Sicherheit sollte einem das Wert sein. Am Gipfel gibt es dann ein Museeum zur Erbauung der Passstraße. Das Museeumsgebäude an sich ist schon sehr sehenswert, aufgrund seiner besonderen Architektur die für mich bis jetzt einzigartig ist. Ich empfehle außerdem auch Durchreisenden sich die Zeit zu nehmen, die nähere Umgebung per Fuß zu erkunden, denn es gibt viele Kunstobjekte zu entdecken. Ich werde ein paar Bilder davon...
