Rama Beach Cafe — Attraction in Castel Volturno

Sorry but will never come back. The place was pretty but nothing very different than the other beach clubs but price and vegan food. They were very discriminating against us as melanated people. As we came in. They told us they were full but when we said we called they then said oh okay. The people behind us they didn't say they were full. They let them come in right behind us. Then when we came in no one wanted to serve us. If you are melanated and not with an Italian, this is not the place to come. If you want to use the beach and then use the pool, you must pay more. It is less crowded there because most people don't want to pay that kind of money but it's nothing extraordinary from the other beach clubs. After talking to some other melanated people that were wondering why we were upset, they experienced the same thing and left before we did and stated that they would never return to this place. I still thank them for the experience because we learn from all experiences because we learn something from all experiences but I will never return...

We visited for the opening party last night and got the free entry before 1am tickets online. We were given a card that was supposed to be exchanged at the bar for another card to “prove we’d bought a drink” - they don’t let you leave the event until you’ve done this, and drinks are extortionate. This is already a massive scam - drinks should be included in the price of entry if it’s mandatory!! To make things worst, the bar staff also forgot to exchange the cards so despite the fact that we’d all already been ripped off by buying one drink, the bouncers tried to refuse us to leave the venue. They laid their hands on us which was utterly unacceptable. If you’re considering a night out in this part of the world I would avoid at all costs, it feels like you’re entering a prison and there are much nicer beach...

I’ve been numerous times to Bali, Thailand and other countries in southeast Asia. This place is inspired by the style used in these countries. But unlike the service, hospitality and vibe in these countries, the staff at Rama’s are obnoxious, arrogant and completely incompetent. Especially when you’re not a native speaker. And although the place looks really nice it’s way overpriced and just not hospitable. If you order a Spritz, it comes in a tiny plastic cup and tastes watered down. I’ve been a few times just to see whether it was a one-time off experience, but all 4/5 times have been an unpleasant experience.
