Girolamo Russo - cantina vitivinicola — Attraction in Castiglione di Sicilia

We had a fantastic vineyard tour and tasting at the Russo winery. After meeting and getting a tour of the building where the wines are vinified and aged in oak, we then drove out to the lovely facility they have at the Feudi vineyard stie. There, we were given a tour by the winemaker that was fascinatingly educational - about the unique microclimate and volcanic soils, and the approaches they take in growing and vinifying the grapes.

And the tasting was wonderful - we tasted through 5 wines - each distinct, yet also reflective of a similar style. Delicious, complex, and extremely drinkable - this is one of the benchmark producers for Nerello Mascalese.

A magical place and great wines - I recommend this to all wine lovers. This isn't industrialized Napa tourism - it's a warm, welcoming experience from one of Sicily's best producers. And it's really something to see vineyard rows, with enormous lava fields in the distance on the north...

A memorable afternoon spent with Dante at their vineyard in the Feudo contrada. The entire range of wines are of exceptional quality and deliver excellent value. The tasting experience was relaxed and without pretence, yet with a passion for quality above all else. Lastly, we also particularly appreciated the welcome and warmth shown to our 2 year old son who was with us on the day....

Oh my gosh we had the absolute loveliest day with Luciana. She took us to different vineyards and explained all about the contradas, the age of the vines and the different varieties. We then had a spectacular tasting with fresh home made food at Giuseppe's place. Wonderful,...
