I recently stayed in Castelbrando for my destination wedding! I'll write a full review separately for their wedding services, but the tl;dr is that the staff were amazing and really went above and beyond our expectations and my now-husband and I (and all our guests!) had a wonderful experience overall. Brunella and Carlo as leads worked very well with our wedding planner and the whole day went by very smoothly, even with pending rain and some last minute changes/requests.
The stay at the hotel itself was so lovely as well. In summary -
Pros: Easy check-in process - able to park right up at the front (temporarily) and unload luggage Friendly, helpful staff - most of them (all of the front desk and restaurant staff though) speak English Great room (alcova) with lots of light and lots of space for the wedding party to get ready Strong wifi in common areas, such as the reception area and lounge Lots of options at breakfast - hot/cold drinks, continental food items, and hot food such as eggs and bacon La Fucina restaurant, Donatello Bar, museums, and other areas are fun to explore and hang out in 24h funicular (cable car) Lovely spa amenities, easy to book
Cons (ish): The room wasn't fully cleaned until the last day - only the bed was made and the bathroom was cleaned, but the trash bag placed by the door wasn't removed The room was right below Sansovino Restaurant and so there was lot of noise when tables/chairs were being moved, especially early in the morning Wifi in the room wasn't usable unless standing next to the door or window Gelateria was always closed
I would give more than 5 stars if I could. I've already stayed at Castelbrando more than once when I was in the area, and I'm very much looking forward to staying...

The building is impressive but remember it was built as a castle not a hotel with the comfort and facilities you would expect - especially for the considerable amount demanded.|It is a rambling building - breakfast is served 2/3 up a massive flight of stairs. Nice to look at but a huge climb to reach it from the lobby area. The restaurant also involves a very tortuous route to and from the rooms and a lot more stairs, depending on where your room is.|We paid extra for an upgrade. Big mistake - yes the room was bigger but hardly comfortable. Lots of space maybe but no balcony and the views could only be seen through windows at shoulder hight so you have to stand to see them. Seated you just stare at the walls or the TV (Italian language only)|The en-suite was very tired and had a shower over bathtub that involved a huge step to get in and out.|Negotiating the building is difficult with poor (or non-existing) so it can be very frustrating finding your way around.|Think of it more as a museum and you’ll have a better idea of what it’s like.|There is no regular swimming pool as such - just a number of spa style tubs and a dip pool for they wanted to charge 20 € per person for our hours! Outrageous!|The bar (only open at 4pm) is the lobby so hardly a place to relax with people checking in and out and the young lady serving the bar was very brusque - more suited to being a traffic warden I would suggest.|Yes one or two staff were actually friendly but overall we feel we were intruding on a place set up for an impressive wedding but nothing more.|Fine for a visit but NOT a place to stay - there are much better hotels if you want to stay in the area for more...
