Great view of Tirano from the top. The church itself is not open but it a fun hike to soak in the view. Walking through vineyards and then the full city of Tirano laid out below you. We too the direct route up - from the Basilika Madonna di Tirano - head towards the hill where Santa Perpetua is located, through a small alleyway and there is a covered bridge. Once across the bridge follow the vineyards and take the steps up. There will be a mix of stairs, swtichbacks going up through the vineyard to Santa Perpetua. On the way down we took a path from the back which is a long but less steep switchback through the trees, emerging along the main road Via Elvenzia - outside of Tirano. Quick walk back to the center.

Very nice place to visit, totally recommend! There’s a trail to go from the city to the top. Cross the bridge and follow the trail in the vineyards. We went there in January, there were no people almost. I saw someone’s photos from summer which show that it can get quite crowded here. Near the church there’s a small park with lots of greenery (of course, it’s not so green in winter). From the top you can see the whole city of Tirano and the mountains. Bring some beverages and enjoy the day!

The church can be reached by a walking trail, starting at the parking lot near the Santuario della Madonna di Tirano. After crossing the bridge, a short but steep path leads to the church (the climb can be done in 20 minutes). At the top you have a beatiful view on the Santuario, Tirano and its surroundings. Definitely recommended to make the climb!

We only saw Santa Perpetua from a distance, but even then, it’s impressive how beautifully it rises above the town. The church stands on a hill and gives Tirano its iconic skyline. It dates back to the 14th century and historically served not only as a place of worship but also as a key landmark for pilgrims traveling through the region.

It’s now a popular spot for a walk and offers some great views over the town, especially when it’s nicely lit up in the evening. If you’ve got the time (and the energy), it’s definitely worth climbing up. We just admired it from below this time – but hey, now we’ve got a reason to...
