Punta Molentis Beach — Attraction in Crabonaxa/Villasimius

I do not suggest to come to this beach, in spite of the crystal-clear water, fine sand, and nice sea fauna. The access to this beach by car has a fixed cost of 12€ plus a variable cost of 1€ per person, which makes for an especially high overall cost. Despite the high cost of access, the beach is then occupied for the most part by a private establishment. The sun shades of such establishment remain planted in the sand even when the place is nearly empty. As a consequence, people end up being overcrowded in the part of the beach that is not occupied by the private establishment. Notably, a place at the private establishment costs 25-30€ per day. All of this occurs even off season. For example, I was last here in October, and the situation was exactly as described above. Last but not least, sea waters are delimited by an annoying floating rope that is supposed to serve as a delimiter between swimming and navigable waters. In line with the spirit of the place, such delimitation turns out being very unfavorable to the swimmers.

Overall, this is yet another Sardinian municipality that has decided to address the exploitation of its natural endowments toward luxury tourism and strictly market-oriented mechanisms. The result is that a potentially wonderful spot is turned into an area that is not particularly...

Visited this beach in early August 2023. Having visited Costa Rei, Solanas beach, Campus beach, Porto Giunco and Spiaggia di Monte Turno I can say they this is one of the better beaches, especially for small children as the water is so shallow. It's in a cove so the waves don't really get through. Having said that, it was quite windy in the afternoon which kicked up a lot of sand.

If you like exploring rock pools and climbing over rocks there's plenty of that here. Also some great photo opportunities.

There's a toilet (1€) and a cafe on the beach selling all the usual stuff. I read about the 300 person limit on this beach but it felt like there were a lot more than 300 people there. We arrived at 9am on a Wednesday and the sun beds were almost completely booked up. The car park was also almost full. This a very small beach but also very popular so expect it to get busy.

What I really didn't enjoy was the 10-15 minute walk from the car park in the searing heat. We paid 12 Euros to park for the day.

This beach is probably worth a one-off visit but I doubt if it'll become your...

La sua fama è tale che, nei periodi di maggiore affluenza, si è reso necessario introdurre il numero chiuso, una misura volta a proteggere la sua fragile bellezza dall'impatto di un turismo eccessivo.

🏖 E in questo scenario incantevole, è doveroso volgere lo sguardo al passato, a coloro che, con il loro lavoro, hanno contribuito a plasmarne l'identità. Queste rocce che delimitano la spiaggia, oggi accarezzate dalle onde, un tempo risuonavano del ritmo incessante di martelli e scalpelli. Erano le mani abili dei "piccapedra", gli scalpellini, che estraevano con forza il granito dal cuore della terra. Un lavoro duro, polveroso, che richiedeva maestria e pazienza.

🪧 Al loro fianco, silenzioso e tenace, c'era "su molenti", l'asino. La sua figura è indissolubilmente legata alla storia di questa cava. Era lui il motore paziente, la forza motrice che trasportava quei pesanti blocchi lungo sentieri impervi. Il nome stesso di Punta Molentis è un omaggio a questo animale, un riconoscimento della sua importanza.

💚 Quando vi troverete a Punta Molentis, lasciate che la bellezza vi avvolga. Ma vi invito a fare un passo oltre l'incanto visivo, a tendere l'orecchio del cuore. Provate a immaginare il suono degli scalpelli, il passo lento dell'asino. Queste rocce portano ancora le cicatrici di quel lavoro antico, testimoni silenziosi di un'epoca passata.

🗣 Il buonsenso delle persone è la chiave per preservare la magia di questo luogo. Profanare questa bellezza, mancarle di rispetto, significherebbe cancellare quelle storie, ignorare l'anima che pulsa ancora tra queste rocce. Spero che chiunque abbia la fortuna di posare i propri occhi su questo incanto comprenda la responsabilità di custodire, di proteggere, di lasciare intatta la sua essenza.

📣 Punta Molentis non è un palcoscenico da conquistare, ma un santuario da onorare. Il numero chiuso è un atto d'amore. Ricordiamo con rispetto il sudore di quegli uomini e la fatica di quell'animale. Sono parte integrante della sua storia. Onorare la loro memoria è un modo per apprezzare ancora di più la preziosità di questo angolo di paradiso, affinché continui a splendere, un faro di bellezza incontaminata per chi sa amarla e proteggerla.
