Wow! What a place! I work in the coffee industry and was able to experience this via my work and what an incredible experience it was! I was here with my wife and we were running late as a bus didn’t come and the next bus was 6 minutes late and then dropped up to a random area as the busy stop area was under construction so it ended up being very confusing. We finally got on a bus and knew we were going to be late so we called them and they said it’ll all work out as the tour had started but we could join in when we arrived and complete the start of the tour afterwards. The tour was great and very informative hosted by Fatima and you could she her passion as she guided us especially in what La Marzocco stands for in their values and good ethics. Next we got to have some coffee at the cafe with cake and cantucci/biscotti, I had an Ethiopian espresso, house blend flat white & Brazilian filter which were all delicious. Next we did a pour over tasting with Marco who was fantastic and very knowledgeable and passionate. I loved the Colombian “Cherry Madness” Anaerobic natural processed coffee with tried, a true stand out. Afterwards we were guided by Viola from reception for the part of the tour we missed, also who we spoke to when we were running late, she was so helpful and a delight! Next, we had lunch and WOW! We could not believe the quality of the food! My wife and I love to eat out and I cook a lot and the meal we had here easily became one of the best meals of a 3 week trip. They have passion in everything they do here! We also had a great chat to Edouardo who served the food who was also fantastic.
Overall an incredible experience and would 100% recommend to anyone interested in the world of coffee. We would of just gone back to eat again if we were staying in...
Read moreMy husband and I love to travel via food and drinks and he has a particular passion for coffee which landed us here. I wasn’t sure what to expect as my passion for how to make coffee is not as strong (I do love to drink truly great coffee though). Wow was I wrong to assume I was going only to support him, this entire experience blew us away. Taking the tour and getting the opportunity to learn about the history of coffee in Italy (and understanding why I don’t generally like Italian coffee haha it’s traditionally roasted too dark for me). I loved learning about the innovation in the machines, seeing the parts and time and energy that goes into each and where, again, the history of this came from and developed. This was just the start. We then explored the extensive book collection, finding some of our favourites on food and coffee and speaking with many staff members. They had a pottery studio on site, and as this is a hobby of mine I enjoyed seeing the work, their process and hearing the stories. We then sat for lunch at their small on site restaurant. It was impeccable, incorporating coffee in truly outside the box ways such as with butter over ravioli, we were blown away. There was a slight mix up with our order and we sat longer than expected before getting to eat but again the incredible service came through, offering us a glass of wine while we waited. This is not a complaint but instead yet another compliment to the level of hospitality they held at the Accademia. We could not have been more grateful for the wonderful staff. Thank you a thousand times over, we can’t wait to return with friends or family in the future....
Read moreFirst of all, a little warning 😀: It's not a normal museum that you can just walk in on. It's an academy with an attached museum, where you have to book a guided tour in advance. I was a bit naive, but I was lucky and was able to book a coffee course spontaneously so I could walk around a little bit before the course started. Unfortunately, I was too late and missed the tour, so you do need to organize a bit.
But the Akademia is a really great place. Super modern, super pretty, and everything is very open and friendly. The people are really nice and happy to give information, and it was a fantastic experience. I definitely have to come back because, as I said, I was too late and only got to see a...
