Went to take a look and before we got inside an elderly man came up to us on the road outside and asked if we wanted to go in and see the Godfather ‘set’. He told us it is €25 each. I asked if he worked there as he had no markings on his clothing, just plain clothes. There were no signs on the outside and nothing to suggest this was the place we were looking for. It was by the way. He did not answer if he worked there so I asked again and he never replied. We said we will think about it, to which he said, there’s no thinking about it it’s yes or no, and then he shut the gate on us. At €25 each “It was an offer we Could refuse!” There was no mention online or any signs whatsoever of paying, even a small amount to view the place. Shame really. We went to Savoca and Bar Vitelli instead where we had a great look round and a drink in bar Vitelli. If you are going to charge for entry at least advertise it and not have a gentleman in plain clothes asking...
Read moreWe arrived at the gate earlier today, hoping to visit, if possible, or inquire about future timings, but did not get the chance to do so. An elderly man walked by, saw me standing by the side of the public road, looking around for a sign to indicate if/where we could go in, and yelled, “What do you want? Nothing!”, gesticulated aggressively in my direction, then turned his back on us and left. As I was getting ready to get back in the car, he returned, followed by two other tourists, yelled again and demanded to know why we were there and what we were doing. Baffled by that point, I said we were just looking, which seemed to calm him down, and he said that was OK, then abruptly turned and left again.
We would have loved to visit, but preferred to leave instead, as there were no signs to follow, no room for questions or minimal conversation, not even in terms of times, price or bookings— we just got yelled at without having entered the...
Read moreMy friend and I visited Castello Degli Schiavi today. We read online that you needed to book a visit but as we were staying only 10 minutes drive away we decided to try our and luck and see what we could see from the outside, which is nothing really due to the bushes and perimeter fence. However the owner, a very friendly charming man, see us outside and came out to speak to us and offered to give us a tour anyway. The owner was very knowledgeable and told us about all the history of the buildings and showed us all the areas used for the filming of The Godfather movies. He took photos for us let us photo anything we wanted and even had a little chat with us after the tour was finished. A very nice gentleman indeed.
The tour costs €25 euros and we thought it was worth every cent but please book ahead as we were just very lucky with our timing and that the owner was available to give a tour...
