When in this region of Sicily, this place offers an amazing and authentic experience if you desire to taste the real flavors of regional a la Boscciaola food.
Named after the owners horses (Teresa and Pablo!), the kind owners Signora Rita and Signor Pippo, along with the delightful Christina assisting in service, will deliver you a quality experience where no want you have is too much trouble.
Providing a daily menu of seasonal dishes made from the freshest quality, locally sourced organic produce and home made foods, you will not be disappointed.
Apart from starting with some antipasti, we had a delicious lunch of pasta pennette a la ‘boscaiola’ then typical cottoletti di carne. The pasta was so flavoursome - onion soffritto base with pork sausage mince on peas and porcini mushrooms - delicious!
Just like home, Rita encouraged a second helping of the pasta from the pan if we desired more - of course I was brought up to be polite, so I said thank you!
We decided to return again that night as they were offering a special dish of Pesce Stock ‘a ghiotto’ - deep rich flavors of the dried Stock fish in a brothy stew with capers, olives, celery, tomatoe and potatoes. Served with copious fresh casalinga bread or crunchy toasted slices, plain or with garlic butter too, as you preferred, to soak up and further enjoy the flavoursome juices. Just memories of my childhood! Some of our dinner group asked to try a slice of grilled meat or a grilled polpette on the wood fired grill in the courtyard. Graciously prepared and served with love.
All washed down with lovely local young vino ‘Pista e Muta’, or other drinks of your choice.
Any opportunity to visit this place, will allow you to experience simple, humble food prepared and served in a home style by gracious hosts. I recommend you try to but always ring to check...
Read moreI don't know if I'm just not the biggest fan of meat or if this place wasn't as good as the reviews said. I do believe it is absurd to spend 30€ on a dish that was just mediocre. But also there are only 3 workers that are trying their best , and for that I admire them. Also in America we are spoiled by the flavor of our meat with sauces, from all the reviews that were Italian loved it so maybe this place just isn't for Americans who need that flavor. Overall I wouldn't come back here again personally, but if you like it I don't see why...
Read moreOne of the best meals in Sicily. Traditional place run by a lovely couple and with a great terrace inside and outside with trees. The food is really good, we had ragú pasta, a starter with cheese, dry tomatoes, artichokes and olives, and mix grilled meat (several things surprised us with the unique flavours, so it’s not just another BBQ). The desserts are amazing, we had the lemon sorbet, the pistachio tiramisu and the normal tiramisu (must haves!). Everything home made. We felt at home and would go back every...
