For our Easter weekend in Tuscany we chose to stay at the Fattoria Di Lamole. Lamole is a hilltop village that is situated 1 hour south of Florence. It’s in the heart of the Chianti region, right next to the charming medieval villages such as Volpaia and Radda and 1 hour and half from Siena. There is so much to see and taste that is worthwhile in this region. The Tuscan landscape at sunset is simply epic.||||Be aware that it is a long, winding and narrow drive up to the top so drive slowly because of oncoming traffic and the locals drive with speed and experience.||||We stayed in one of a group of family owned houses. The house we chose offers 3 guest rooms for couples and is run by a respected local wine-producer. It is simply decorated and offers a lot of indoor charm. The fully furbished kitchen is large and delightfully rustic. Because we decided to visit on Easter weekend (which is still chilly) we spent many evenings in the kitchen around the warm fire place, sipping wine, nibbling all sorts of antipasti and playing card games.||||The 3 bed rooms each offer simple comforts and essential necessities. There is a cupboard for clothes, a double bed, warm linen, shower, sink and toilet. The rooms are made every day and fresh towels are supplied. There is access to internet but do not expect to view the latest trending video on YouTube. Because of the thick stone walls the WiFi’s bandwidth is limited to the host’s office. This is the perfect excuse to do a smart phone or device detox, connect with loved ones and enjoy the simpler things in life, like a good wine.||||This is an old stone farm house so heating in the spring and fall can be a challenge. But the bed quilts and linen will keep you warm and snug. There’s also plenty of firewood readily available to stoke a fire until the late hours or the new day.||||Hosts Paolo and Juliana are eager to please and will set a full breakfast at your preferred time. They will also gladly supply you with local produce from delicious cured ham to olive oil and even their own wine: Le Stinche (pronounced Stinky), which is a lovely Castello di Lamole Chianti Classico. Bibo, the hosts dog, is extremely friendly and eager to be petted.||||Unless you plan to eat out for every lunch and dinner of your stay, we do recommend buying food supplies and drinking water. You can buy local produce at the Ristoro di Lamole, but for the basics there is a Coop in nearby Greve.||||We came to Lamole and fell in love with its simplicity and proximity to all things charming about the Chianti region. We highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the region and have a relaxing stay in a...

Read moreWe loved it here! I'm not sure how we ever managed to leave. This was the first of my two Agriturismo experiences in Italy, and they weren't quite what I expected. I had expected more of a farming experience of some sort. Instead, Fattoria di Lamole was very rural, but we had no connection to their vineyard activities, for example. BUT, it was stellar. The owners have several properties strung along a couple of miles of gravel road in the almost-a-village of Lamole. We stayed in a "newer" (200 years old) farmhouse, overlooking a stunning Chianti valley--vineyards, and rosebushes and irises, birds singing, bees buzzing all around us. It was a wonderfully entertaining to just sit in a lounge chair for an afternoon and watch the light change across the valley--with a bottle of their own Chianti, of course. Our farmhouse had three bedrooms, I think, and another couple had one of them on another floor for one of the nights we were there. Breakfast was served downstairs in the "living room" and there was also a shared sitting room upstairs. Our room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the linens of good quality. Breakfast was also quite good--more than just croissant and coffee, but not an american breakfast. The plaster walls were too thick for cellular service, but it did work outside The pool wasn't open so early in the season. Really, I wanted to stay and just not move on to our next destination...||Also, the restaurant in the village is excellent, and we had a wonderful tour of the local "big"...
