Bought a bus ticket around €2.6 at Lecco station (the same station we had arrived via Trenord from Milano Centrale) and took a bus, number 5, to Funivia Piani d'Erna (starting point of the cable car), the journey from Lecco station to Funivia Piani d'Erna took around 30 minutes (on 8.30 AM from Lecco Station).
And then, we bought a roundtrip cable car ticket for 6 person for €69. If you prefer, you can also hike from the starting station. (You can also bring along your mountain bike on the cable car).
On the top, a short walk towards south west of the top station brings to a spot call Pizzo d'Erna (there was an ending point of via ferrata). On the west, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Lecco and the south-eastern part of Lake Como. On the east, you can enjoy a panoramic view of mountain range, Mt Resegone (about 1875 meters).
While waiting for the bus back to Lecco, there was a local mountain bike rider just got out of the trail. Hoping that in the future i could also bring my bike a ride...
Read moreBreath-taking, a hidden gem with oaths winding up and around the mountain's sides, to the very top, as well as wonderful oaths winding in between down the woods. There's plenty of choice for beginner walker-trekkers as myself, as well as hard-core paths for the true trekkers and alpinisti. There's also a delightful wooden bar, quite large in fact, with lovely rustic tables outside facing a massive mountain side infront (apologies, I'll find out the name and edit at a later stage), so one can enjoy panini and hot food, or aperitivi, enjoying the view. There's also another osteria-trattoria wonderfully nestled in the hill side, a short walk down a slope. And unless you're not a hard-core trekker, there's the funicular taking you right up from the spacious car park, up the the top, making it really easily accessible for anyone to pop up and enjoy the view and a stroll. Only a few minuted from Lecco, I'd never have imagined such massive mountains set in wonderfully...
Read moreWe came here for hiking at the recommendation of the Lecco tourist office. It was beautiful and we loved the panaromic views and the peace and serenity of the place. Not forgetting the cute sheep and donkeys along the way:) Just wanted to share some hiking tips if you intend on doing the 2.5 hours nature hiking route(as printed on the Piani d’Erna brochure). The route is not v well marked so we ended up getting lost several times and took 3.5 hours instead. Do look out for the green signboards with the number marked at the bottom right hand corner (corresponds with the numbers on the brochure) and also look out for the “Sentiero Natura” signs in green. Ignore all other signs as there appear to be multiple trails. Have attached photos for ease of reference....
