A star goes for the very tasty wine and food. Another star for the friendliness of the team.
Things to be improved:
My husband and I booked a wine tasting for 40€ per person based on the information we found out on the English website. When we wanted to pay they asked us to pay 10€ more because apparently the prices on the English website are wrong and the ones on the Italian website are correct. This is completely unprofessional and very disappointing.
In overall the value for money is not good. Way too expensive for what you get. The beginning was very chaotic. We waited for 30 min without anybody telling us what comes next.
The communication in English is bad. I understand that the team there is not native English, neither am I, but when you work with tourists daily and you do the tours in English you can prepare your script translate it with Google and learn it by heart. As easy as that.
The man who did the tour with us in the storage space did a sexist joke. Not funny, not appropriate, not respectful!
Based on our experience we would not go back and we would not recommend it unless things mentioned above...
Read moreOne star, ironically, for the cheese and another star for the breathtaking views.
Feudo Maccari has the price list of one of the most prestigious wineries in the world but nothing else to support it. We paid €40 for 4 tasting glasses (and trust me, these were definitely tasting size - see pictures) and a very appetising plate of cheese. The cheese was the highlight.
The wines were palatable, the decor was fine, the staff were friendly (when you finally managed to get them over - at one point I was tempted to use semaphore to signal them over after a 20 minute wait with the menus).
I suggest they either rebrand themselves a cheese shop or consider improving on the points above.
My advice to anyone looking to taste some great wines and food, just head to one of Noto's many wine bars. You get a great view of some Baroque...
Read moreWe decided to venture east towards the Ionian and find a winery. Boy did we ever. Super nice vineyard with really good wines, nice options for food and an engaging staff that spoke multiple languages. They were interested to learn we were from America and had moved here. Good conversation about that, but even better discussion around the wines from the vineyard and effect the sea has on the wines they harvest. Tours are available if wanted. The wine tasting options with our without food are plentiful. A variety of cheeses and salami were paired well for the option we chose. You can purchase the wines which are very reasonably priced for the quality you get. We watched both a French couple and German couple leave with some great wines. Will definitely visit this...
