Rifugio Carlo Franchetti — Attraction in Pietracamela

One of the most beautiful mountain huts I've ever stayed in terms of location. Hidden in between Corno Grande and Corno Piccolo of the Gran Sasso Mountain range, it looks over the Adriatic see, a few dozen kilometers away and 2500 meters below. The manager and his staff are very friendly and he knows the mountain like the palm of his hand. Too bad the size of the hut and the toilet are totally inadequate for the weekend crowds. Still way to go, compared to similar huts...
