I made the trip to Italy mostly really to go to Capocotta beach because of its reputation as a nudist LGBT+ friendly beach. I am not very impressed. The water is clean, the sunset is gorgeous, it’s the Mediterranean so it’s beautiful, naturally. I’m staying in Ostia di Lido because Capacotta is a “natural reserve” area which means it has no hotels or accommodations or any urban signs. The question is: why?! There are a ton of bushes there, and if you stroll around them you’ll see a tragic amount of trash everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE. There is one or two beach bars that are not even that refined. And they rent out umbrellas and chairs (separately, 7-8€ each) - otherwise there are zero public services. Now let’s talk about the public infrastructure: transportation to get there is absolutely sub zero! And people smoke cigarettes ON THE BUS which is crazy! Some of the buses don’t even have way finding (broken screens) - the stops on the “natural reserve” stretch are hidden between the bushes, no sidewalk or a safe stop - it’s dangerous to just stop and wait for the bus connection! There are lovely locals who come talk to you and strike a nice conversation and connect on a warm, personal level. But there’s also vendors who insist on selling you what they have even if you say no grazie several times already. There are sex solicitors too ($$$). Go to Sitges or even cross the ocean to Zipolite instead. This is so not worth it.

Nature conservation area, many kms of undeveloped raw seafront, fine sand, and shallow waters that extend 100m from the shoreline. It's popular with naturists, decidedly inclusive, and there is human wildlife on the prowl secluded behind the dunes. Several beach clubs open up in the summer (no membership required) which offer caffé/bar services, drinks, snacks/salads, and beach chair/umbrella rentals (yes you can pay by card/tap). Tourists Note: There are a lot of past traveller reviews citing car break-ins and petty theft. They probably did not know the local custom is to pay the parking attendants €1-2 (or more if you like) to guard your car against thieves, and it's wise to do so. Bring along some coins. They are friendly about it, but don't push your luck if you try to skirt their system.

Good place to feel chilling. However, you should care about car accident as you can read in reviews. I got there by public transportation. The bus comes every 10 min to the closest station. I recommend to use those public transportation.

The worst beach in Rome. We were there for 30 minutes and we went back to the car, all of our stuff were robbed from the car even the underwear. I’m so sorry to read this comment section late because too many people pointed it out before me. It’s a shame that police don’t do anything despite this amount of...
