Bridge to the Moon — Attraction in Sasso di Castalda

The bridge to the moon is located in the small town of Sasso di Castalda a few kilometers from Potenza. The ticket office is located in the town center a few steps from the access to the first bridge. The attraction is in fact represented by two Tibetan steel bridges. The first about 100 meters long leads to the opposite side of a wide valley. Once you arrive on this side, you take an uphill path that leads to the second bridge, the bridge to the moon, about 300 meters long and at a greater height than the first. The second bridge also, compared to the first, provides a slightly downhill stretch at the beginning and an uphill stretch at the end. The view is very beautiful and can be enjoyed if you are lucky enough to cross the bridge in a day with few tourists and above all with little wind.In any case, both bridges swing quite a bit and you have to cross them carefully and always putting your foot on the center of the steel step to avoid further swaying. I strongly advise against those who suffer from dizziness or have problems with balance or in any case not in good physical shape or overweight. The staff does not carry out a safety briefing but merely harnesses you and provides you with the essential information for crossing bridges. during the passage on the bridges it is necessary to release the safety carabiners to go beyond the supports of the bridge and I believe it is necessary to communicate more information to the tourist and possibly the behavior to be followed in an emergency, since in my opinion it is in any case an activity that can involve dangers for unfamiliar people or people not used to using this type of equipment. the cost of the ticket is currently 15 euros. Beautiful area! Quaint town, walking trails, Via Ferrata, along with the suspension bridge. The bridges themselves (there are two) provide an outstanding view of the surrounding area and valley/canyon.

The scheme is that you cross the valley twice, via suspension bridge. The crossing time (duration) will vary depending on the speed of the people in your group and how many times the people at the front of the line stop to take pictures.

Settimana di ferragosto 2018.

Il paesino è una perla della Lucania .. molto molto carino , curato e quasi d’altri tempi dove tutto sembra essersi fermato ed allo stesso tempo dove tutto è in continuo movimento val bene una visita… La gente molto cordiale ed accogliente, il panorama tutto d’intorno ti riempie occhi cuore e polmoni. La Nostra esperienza (ero con una cara Amica) al Ponte alla Luna è stata molto positiva , anche se non priva di qualche disguido , facilmente risolvibile almeno nella mia esperienza. Pur essendo nella settimana di Ferragosto , non vi era un afflusso esagerato e non abbiamo fatto nessun tipo di fila, forse per via del tempo molto incerto e variabile , ma questo non è certo da imputare all’organizzazione , lo è il fatto di arrivare al cancelletto e sentirsi dire “ bisogna riscendere in paese a fare il biglietto” … e visto che Sasso di Castalda non è proprio la pianura padana …J … A causa del maltempo , dopo essere saliti, scesi e risaliti non abbiam potuto accedere al Ponte … ma siamo stati rassicurati sia della validità per anni 9 del biglietto sia .. di un eventuale rimborso qualora ci fosse impossibile ritornare ( da Milano… o dalla Sardegna non è proprio dietro l’angolo). La voglia di salire su quel ponte era tanta .. e per fortuna siamo potuti ritornare il giorno dopo, di buon mattino e vivere questa bella ed indimenticabile avventura. I ponti visti da lontano sembrano proprio , sospesi nel nulla , una volta su (forse NON soffrendo di vertigini)… perdono un po’ di adrenalina, sono comunque una bell’attrattiva e una bell’esperienza da fare . Personale cordiale e disponibile sia ai ponti che alla biglietteria.

Mettete un cartello in più…. Chi non è del posto trova si i cartelli per giungere al Ponte … ma non ha nessuna indicazione di dove sia la biglietteria. Non costa nulla , e noi si arriva su un po’ più… sorridenti, senza prendervi frasi come : “Voi al Sud perchè fate queste cose? ”…
