This is one of the most beautiful, well preserved and magical beaches I have ever had the privilege of visiting. From its limpid waters, to its tranquillity and fine views, it's simply a great place to visit for those who want to be immersed in the nature among the typical Tuscan hills of Maremma, surrounded by wildlife and pine trees to find refuge when the sun is too far up in the sky and it gets too hot. Regardless of the many tourists who visit this place, especially during the high season, this place is spotless, clean and welcoming. The beach can be reached in a 25 minute walk or a 10 minute bike ride from the ample parking where you will leave your car (€7/day), so make sure you wear trainers and avoid flip flops as the path isn't always even - nothing too wild though, many kids and elderly people do it so you'll be fine too. The beach can also be reached from Castiglione della Pescaia or Follonica by bus - Google Maps has all the timings - but if you do so you have to walk/bike for another 10 minutes. Different kiosks in the portion of pinewood adjacent to the beach offer a great selection of food and drinks, and you won't have problems with toilets either, as there are plenty. Bear in mind that due to the presence of wildboars who roam the area at night, bins and trashcans had to be removed, so you will have to keep your trash and dispose it elsewhere. Be respectful of this...

Nice beach, but frustrating booking system IMPORTANT: Reservation is mandatory! Please be aware that you need to book in advance. We were there in September and unfortunately didn't know about the online reservation system on their website. We had to make the reservation on-site, where there is no signal... or very poor signal :-( At the same time as making the reservation, you pay an entrance fee of one euro per person. We came here by bike and it was quite disappointing because my bank contact simply wouldn't work. It's not a smart idea to require this in a place with poor signal :-( In the end, I had to ask other tourists for help... Anyway, in the end I paid and made the reservation 4 times (then everything came through confirmed once I got signal :-) ) The Beach The beach itself is very nice, in a beautiful location... but if you've already traveled quite a bit, I'm not entirely sure if it's worth a longer trip. There's no infrastructure, towel next to towel... The sea is great with nice waves... It's probably top in the area, but it's not really something worth struggling for. Verdict Nice for a visit if you're nearby, but manage your expectations and book online in advance to avoid the on-site hassle! Important Warning Bring insect repellent! Mosquitoes and bugs are everywhere, and they won't spare you on...

Amazing place just avoid July and August. It has a close number access to it you have to book online ahead and the booking page allow you to book within 72 hours from your visit.

10 euro for car park and 1 euro each per persons, there is not food or services on the beach so you have to bring food and plantu of water with you.

At the car park you have a bar that sell drinks and pizzas, sandwiches and local fruits from their garden at very honest prices so if you forgot to organise your picnic you can store up here!

We bought on our way back home peached and apricots from their land and pizza both so yummies!

The beach is breathtaking green water and white sandy beach best time to enjoy the calours are early morning up to 12 and sunset time from 6pm.

The parking close at 9pm so make sure you go back on time. You have to calculate 2km 30 min walk to be safe as we are not expert walkers but the path is easy with the exception of a steep long hill on the way back that requires a bit of effort we did it with 3 little stops!

The path is under trees majority of time and this saves you from the heat most of the time.

Is a wild beach don't expect any lido or paying for umbrellas and sunbeds.

We will go back end of September as now will be full all summer !

We really loved...

Don't waste your time walking here. The walk is ok and takes 20-30 minutes but the beach is way to crowded. It's possible to do it with a more or less off-road usable stroller, but due to the unfriendly ticket checking personell, everyone carried the strollers down some stairs directly before the beach. Just turn to the right and walk a little further, there's another way without stairs. We were there on a Wednesday end of June, and it's just not worth it. The water is clear (although algae parts in some areas), but you can get that on other beaches in the area as well. Just drive around the corner to Rocchette or towards the Maremma national park, there are lots of less crowded alternatives with very clear water as well. The beach should be restricted to even less people, judging from the 700/day now to maximum 350 and it would still be crowded. Several people also just left their trash on the beach, so the number of signs to not do that seems to be not enough for people's lazyness. From the more than 250k/main season it should be possible for the town to put up some trash cans, especially as the way to the beach could be driven by car, as the beach bar guys do.
