One of the best experiences I've in a while! The place itself is huge, but you can guess that by the name lol the infrastructure around is ok. There is a cafe/bistro, they have some souvenirs, toilet (before the cave obviously. We booked in advance by email just to secure our place, but some people didn't book and got in, and also some people have to wait for the second next tour so they could get in. You have to go with a guide, and she explains in Italian and after that in English. She was very helpful as well and kind. We went with the bus 42, and it was quite convenient. The ride up is very beautiful, and the ride takes half and hour or so. Just be careful because it only runs every 20min or so... So be advised to arrive before your time slot. The ride down was as easy as the previous and we could enjoy the view once again. Nothing to complaint.

This is an absolute marvel! This gigantic cave is a natural wonder that left me speechless. Exploring its depths was like stepping into another world altogether. The guided tour was informative and engaging, making the experience all the more fascinating. The lighting showcases the cave's features beautifully without disturbing its natural allure. The highlight, of course, is the iconic "Hall of Mysteries." The moment I stepped into this colossal chamber, I was left in awe. It's an experience that's hard to put into words. They also offer a free audio guide which contains more languages than Italian and English. There is always around +11 in the cave, so taking some warm clothes will be useful. The staff was very friendly and I even talked a bit with a guide after the excursion. Absolutely recommend to visit!

The name is no exaggeration. The cave is huge! The scale of it all is the most impressive part. The pictures lack depth and you can't really tell, but it is massive. Some of the stalagmites and stalagmites are still growing and considering they only grown a millimeter every 15-20 years, you can just imagine the age of this place. There are 500 steps down and 500 steps up but you hardly notice as the guide takes her time taking you down in increments. She gave the information first in Italian and then in English, which is nice. It meant the group wasn't too large. And at the end, she let us climb back up at our own speed. I thought an hour would have been too long for a visit but you hardly notice the time pass. It was well worth the visit!

What an amazing experience! We called to book our spots, although at this time of year there wasn't a problem - sounded like it gets much busier in summer. Worth getting there early - there is a small but interesting museum to see before (or after) you go down below. We were lucky to have Veronica as our guide, and she explained a huge amount about the most amazing cave I have ever seen 😎 It is quite steep down and up, but very safe and the steps were absolutely solid. Great to be able to take a few pictures as well to remember it by...although frankly pictures do not do this remarkable natural structure justice - you need to be there to witness it. Highly recommended - a very easy and regular 42 bus for us from Trieste 👍

Huge grotto. Well-maintained, very safe stairs and intelligent lighting. Not recommended for people with vertigo and agoraphobia. They should stress this issue more in ads. Depths are huge and spaces vast, one can experience panic attacks similar to ones in open mountains. Wear proper shoes, floor, especially in non-cavern safe-looking areas is just puddle of water. Forget warm clothing, its not THAT cold how they warn. You will survive, and kids too. Upper geodetic pendulum station looks like a location taken straight from Half-Life or Return to Castle Wolfenstein. A must-visit pilgrimage site for geek retrogamers.

If you are nearby - take the time to visit this! Tickets costs just ~13 Euros and it is worth it! We managed to go through the cave in less then 2 hours. It was not very cold, nice to have some jacket, but overall shorts will do just fine. Be ready to walk around 1k stairs, but it was quite easy for non-sporty people to manage them as well. There are many stops on the way, so there is time to take a breath and take some cool photos. Parking is available nearby the entrance and also you can plan in few more minutes to explore the exhibition that is located in the same building. English language tour is also available.
