My husband and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a wine tour in the enchanting region of Siena, Italy, and I can confidently say it was the highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived at the beautiful vineyard, we knew we were in for an unforgettable day. Our tour guide was an absolute gem. His warm and welcoming personality instantly put us at ease, and he proved to be a wealth of knowledge about the wine-making process and the vineyard's products. We were captivated by his passion and enthusiasm, and he patiently answered all of our questions, making sure we left with a deeper understanding of the art of winemaking. The property itself was a sight to behold, with rolling vineyards, and breathtaking views of the Siena countryside. The vineyard quickly became one of the highlights of our trip, and we found ourselves lost in its beauty. The highlight of our tour, however, was undoubtedly the wine and food. The quality of the wine was exceptional, and the food pairings were equally outstanding – a delicious assortment of local favorites that perfectly complemented the wines. But what truly made this experience extraordinary was the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world. It was heartwarming to meet people who shared our passion for wine and travel, and to form connections that made the day even more memorable. In conclusion, our wine tour in Siena was a dream come true. We are planning to order some of their exceptional wine, as it allows us to relive those beautiful moments. We wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone planning a visit to Siena. The informative and kind tour guide, the stunning property, the delectable food, and the incredible wine – it all adds up to an experience that you'll cherish forever. Cheers to Siena and the wonderful memories we created on this...

From the moment we arrived at Azienda la Lastra , we were treated to an unforgettable experience. Nestled in the rolling hills with breathtaking views of the vineyards, the winery exudes a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. Mr Maya greeted us with warmth and shared a bit of the winery’s history, which made the whole experience feel personal and authentic.

We started with a tour of the vineyard, where our guide explained the grape-growing process in detail. It was fascinating to learn about their sustainable farming practices and how the different terroirs affect the wine's flavor. The vineyard itself was immaculate, with rows of lush vines stretching as far as the eye could see.

After the tour, we moved to the tasting room, which had a cozy, rustic charm. The wines were exceptional—each one more unique than the last. We especially enjoyed their signature Chardonnay, which had a crisp, buttery finish, and the red blend, which was full-bodied with notes of dark cherry and oak. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, offering perfect pairings with local cheeses and cured meats.

The highlight of the visit was the wine and food pairing lunch overlooking the vineyard. The dishes were thoughtfully prepared and complemented the wines perfectly. It felt like an indulgent escape from everyday life.

Before we left, we spent some time in the wine shop and picked up a few bottles to bring home. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the wines, and they even offered a special discount for first-time visitors.

Overall, our visit to Azienda la Lastra was a wonderful experience. The combination of stunning views, great wine, and excellent service made for a memorable day. I highly recommend visiting if you're ever in the area—it's a true gem for...

My wife and I enjoyed an amazing tour, tasting, and lunch. Our guide (38-year old from southern Italy) walked us through the small family-owned vineyard and olive tree estate. He started with the olive tree grove, describing the large number of olives required to make one bottle of olive oil, how the trees are pruned to foster new growth (pruning was happening the day of our tour), and the lifespan of the trees. He then took us to the grape vines and similarly provided a thorough discussion of how the vines are organically maintained, the species of grapes on the property, how weather impacts not only the type of grape that can be grown in the area but also how uncontrollable issues like too much/little rain impact a particular year's harvest. We then toured the wine cellar. The tour then moved to the tasting room where four wines were discussed during an excellent luncheon. We had 12 total individuals in our tour group - this is the standard group size (8 Americans, 2 Brits, and 2 individuals from Mexico). We had a great time meeting and enjoying the tasting with the other folks. This tour and tasting epitomizes the Tuscany experience - highly recommend it!! (Side note...most everyone in our group took a taxi from Siena to the vineyard while we drove our leased vehicle. The majority of the roadway to the vineyard is no issue, simply be aware the final 250 meters or so is on what I would call a rural farming work roadway that is single lane - meeting another car would require one party to back up as there simply isn't room to squeeze off onto a shoulder or ditch. We lucked out and didn't meet anyone. Google maps had no problem taking us directly to the vineyard...

We had a truly first-class experience on this organic vineyard tour just outside Siena. Our guide, Maya , was absolutely fantastic — incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and engaging throughout. The tour began with a fascinating insight into how organic olive oil is produced, with a focus on how true extra virgin olive oil is made and how best to use it in cooking. From there, we moved to the heart of the vineyard, learning about the growing and pruning of the vines, and how their position on the hillside makes best use of the local climate and sunlight. Maya explained the three pillars of biodiversity — soil, insects, and animals — and how they contribute to sustainable, organic wine production. We then visited the cellar to see the winemaking process up close: from grape crushing to fermentation in stainless steel, and the use of French oak barrels for red wines. She expertly explained how the size and charring of the barrels influences both oxidation and flavour development. We finished with a generous tasting of five different wines, each explained in detail, all high quality and distinct. It was informative, relaxed, and really enjoyable. As a bonus, we met a talented Mexican artist also on the tour, who gifted us a beautiful watercolour of Ponte Vecchio in Florence — not part of the official itinerary, but a reminder of the kind of connections these tours can create. Maya was truly excellent, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Siena region. Five stars, without question.
