Boscarelli is a quality producer with a medium-sized operation that’s starting to feel a bit less family-run. We visited during the final week of harvest, when the team was understandably busy, so we couldn’t explore much of the vineyards or certain parts of the cellar.
The tasting was well organized, with interesting wines showing a good sense of progression, though nothing particularly memorable or distinctive that captured the full character of the estate. It’s a pity — though perfectly understandable — that their top wines are not available for tasting.

We tried Boscarelli’s young San Genovese, then a 2020 and a 2019, finally we finished with a blend that the guide referred to at a meditation wine.

Read moreFamily run vineyard in Montepulciano which is beautifully compact and incredibly efficient with their space. We went for a basic wine tour which lasted an hour and cost €24 per person. Our guide was wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable despite not having been there too long. She was able to run us through all the different variety of grapes, differences in the soil, the process from harvesting all the way through to fermentation and bottling.
