I'm still in awe and disbelief that it took me over 2 days to write this review. I went there on Saturday to purchase 2 curry goat patties and there was a sign on the door regarding mask mandate, which I didn't have a problem with except for the fact that I didn't have any mask. Saw a white guy just strolled pass me, entered went into the fridge and proceeded to the cashier. So I was like oh well, maybe I can go in after all, immediately as I entered I was told that I needed a mask, so I pointed out that the guy before me wasn't wearing one as well. She repeated it to me a second time, to which I pointed out again that the other guy wasn't wearing a mask either. He immediately became irate saying that she was giving him a "bly" and how I ruined it for him, to which I replied "I don't care, what goes for one should go for the other". Standing confused and not sure how to react that's when she eventually turned to him and said "sir you need a mask". There was a white couple inside and when we stepped out, they offered to give him a mask and I'm saying to myself, this damn cashier is so stuck in her mental slavery days as a cotton picker who converted to a house slave that she refused to assist one of her own and look what they're doing. That's not even the point, the main issue was that she was unwilling to split justice right across the board but instead was willing to turn me away, the person who was spending more just to help a white guy like a star struck fool. I was so livid about the entire experience and it was my 1st time going. Luckily I hand a handkerchief to wear but I literally have second hand embarrassment for that cashier, like really in 2022???!!! You...

The great house is definitely something to see. There are one or two things that are not period to the original tenants furnishings, but they actually help paint a picture of the years between their residency to today. The Tour guide;,a lady whom I apologise for not taking her name to offer a proper mention here, was absolutely awesome. She interacted with the three of us (luckily a ,small group of two German ladies and myself) allowing us also to ask questions which she very competently answered
Dining. I had the fortune of traveling there twice; the great house was closed to filming on the day prior, so I chose to dine at the the pizzeria (to experience pizzas done in Jamaica) with a thin tasty stonebaked-like crust, this did not disappoint. They were a very accommodating and friendly team there and my particular waitress; another lady whom I apologise for not asking her name to also offer a mention, was very personable.
Finally;,one cannot go to Devon House without experiencing the famed Devon House Ice cream.
In two words; ''deliciously moreish" with ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s of their own. Options are available for a two scoop waffle cone; I recommend making one of these the famed Devon Stout flavour. (on each day my second scoop was (Day 1) Pralines n Cream and(Day 2) Pistachio flavour) which for a little extra, I had coated in frozen chocolate (really handy to reduce it melting too fast)
Overall experience;a well deserved 5 stars.
So; whether you're visiting the island, or just a local islander looking for an afternoon out; why not give the Devon House experience a...
