Highly recommend! A lovely exhibition introducing the rich and unique biodiversity of the island in great detail, with many short videos, interactive displays also available in English, Korean and Chinese. Great place to visit before venturing out on a hike, so you can better appreciate the unique flora and fauna you will see. The staff are very friendly, and admission is free. Very impressive, definitely worth visiting. Good fun for children, adults, and all...

It's also really fun for the kids as there are "binoculars" where you can search for creatures (and it changes with the day to night landscape) using the device and it will show you information about each particular one. This is a must visit center which looks fairly new. It has the most interactive displays and really represents the Amami landscape and unique creatures well. It's also really fun for the kids as there are "binoculars" where you can search for creatures (and it changes with the day to night landscape) using the device and it will show you information about each particular one. For adults, I am most interested in the large projections, which are really well done!

奄美大島世界自然遺産センター 〒894-1201 鹿児島県奄美市住用町大字石原467番地1 2023年11月28日にはじめて訪問させていただきました。 1年後の2024年11月9日に再訪しました。 マングローブ館の隣にある建物です。世界自然遺産奄美大島の魅力を感じることができます。 奄美大島が世界自然遺産に指定されたことで建設された建物でもあり、トイレなどもきれいです。 パンフレットからテキストを拾ってありますが、撮影してきた写真も参考にしていただきたいと思います。 ●パンフレットより 【表面】 世界自然遺産 「奄美大島、徳之島、沖縄島北部及び西表島」 2021年7月26日に「奄美大島、徳之島、沖縄島北部及び西表島」が世界自然遺産に登録されました。 登録地域は、日本列島の南端部に位置する琉球列島の4つの島々の陸域です。世界自然遺産地域の面積(42,698ha)は日本の国土の0.5%に満たないながら、生息する国際的絶滅危惧種は95種、そのうち固有種は75種を数えます。日本は世界の生物多様性ホットスポットの一つですが、その中でも生物多様性が突出して高い地域です。 奄美大島 奄美群島で最も大きい奄美大島。最高峰の湯湾岳(694m)をはじめ起伏が大きく、深い谷が刻まれ、島の周囲はリアス式海岸が発達しているなど地形が複雑です。国内最大規模を誇る亜熱帯多雨林、広大なマングローブ林、河口部に広がる干潟など、多様な環境に多くの固有種が生息・生育しています。 【裏面】 奄美大島の世界自然遺産の森とそこに棲む生きものを実際にフィールドを歩いているように体感・観察したり、奄美大島の自然の価値とそれを守るための取り組みやルールを学んだりすることができる施設です。奄美群島国立公園の適正な利用促進と密猟盗掘対策等の保全管理の拠点でもあります。 展示室 奄美大島の森を再現し、生きものの鳴き声や雨の音、明るさによって1日の変化を体感できます。また、それぞれの季節で映像・音声の変化も楽しめます。 シイの森や雲霧林、渓流、マングローブ林の風景と、息づく生きものの様子を壁一面に映し出して、世界自然遺産の魅力を伝えます。 ミュージアムショップ アウトドア用品を中心に、環境に配慮した、奄美大島ならではの魅力的な商品を揃えています。 展示室内フィールドマップ 入口 1.身近なシイの森 シマ(集落)に近い森。明るくて身近な森にも生きものがいるよ。 2.深みをますシイの森 木が大きく森が深くなってきた。たくさんの動植物がいるから、よく観察してね。 3.大木が支えるシイの森 太古から続く森の大木に、珍しい生きものが集まってくるんだ。 4.雲霧林 山頂近くの森はいつも霧に包まれている。どんな植物があるかな。 5.溪流 水辺に棲む生きものの声が聞こえるかな。 6.マングローブ林 マングローブ林では、湖の満ち引きにあわせて出会える生きものが変わるんだ。 出口
