We were really lucky during this trip to pass by and not miss Couples Farm in Aso, as strawberry season had just begun in very few places in early December.

Strawberry hunting was in our wishlist, but we totally chanced upon it when we returned from visiting the Aso crater, heading towards Aso shrine. The owner is kind enough to let us in, the fees are 2000 yen for each adult to hunt strawberries, and separate fees if one were to purchase strawberries to bring home. There are several types of strawberries in the garden, 2 of which are of early harvest- Benny Hop and Koiminori. Mr owner (Mr Nakayama, I hope I pronounced correctly, sumimasen) showed us how to pick the strawberries correctly and we were free to go hunting! The strawberries are fine to eat directly as they are proudly grown pesticide free. We are able to see the hard work and love put into growing the plants, it sure takes a lot of dedication.

And the strawberries were the tastiest that we ever eaten. We had later purchased several other types of strawberries in stores, but nothing beats freshly picked, fully ripened strawberries! It was a wonderful experience, thank you.

The Couples farm also grows grapes and apples, and each has their own season. They produce their own strawberry soft serve ice cream (delicious), apple pie during apple season and...

Saw the positive reviews and added this to the places to visit while exploring Aso. The strawberries were really fresh and sweet! There were 3 varieties in season, the sagahonoka, koiminori and berry pop suzu. It costs 200 yen for admission to the farm per pax and you'll be given a box to pick the strawberries. The strawberries will be charged by weight for takeout. Alternatively, they offer an all you can eat plan for 2000 yen but you can only eat the strawberries within the farm with no takeout. Arrived at about 10.30am and the place was open even though this site listed the opening hours as 11am on Fridays. Located conveniently along highway 57 and pefect stop to take a break with...

The owner was very patient as we didn’t know Japanese we used an app to understand each other , our family enjoyed it a lot . There were green apples and Fuji apples , we used an apple picking tool to pick the highest ones. The green ones were sweet and the Fuji was a bit sour . It was our first apple picking experience!100💯Oishi Desu !😋We felt really welcomed!❤️ (This was written by my nine years...
