Himenosawa Park — Attraction in Atami

This is by far one of the best parks I’ve been to anywhere. If you like hiking, flowers, trees, birds, streams, views, forest smells, cleanliness, bathrooms, parking, maps, vending drink machines, etc. etc. go here! I recently discovered this park and have taken 3 different routes all amazing. On top of that there are challenging exercise courses all along the course maybe 50 or so. Warning that it’s difficult for the first half as you start below but keep in mind it’s downhill and easier on the return. If you are ambitious you can go to the observatory above the park where you will see 360% breathtaking views of the surrounding areas including Mount Fuji. I recommend the flower bed path to the top which takes you on a path perched between two gullies on the left and right beautiful. There are maps everywhere. There are a few challenging paths that include ropes and steep trails but rest assure I see 8 year old kids doing it easily. 東京ドーム20個分以上と広大な面積を有する日本有数の公園の一つ。

山の傾斜にあり、かなりの高低差の山肌を上り下りする趣向のコースが目まぐるしく 存在する。 沢沿いや尾根状の地形を利用した道もあるが人口造成によるものだそう。 各所に水道管が設置されていたりするのは山の中腹にも水洗トイレを整備するためのようだ。

時折、コースの判別が難しい場所もあり筆者も苦労した経験がある。

名所としては、やはりツツジとなるか。6万本が植林されツツジ園では4月から5月にかけて はなまつりも開催され色鮮やかに咲き乱れる。 遠方から見ると「ヒメノサワ」と読めるように花で文字が描かれている… というがどこから見ると全体像が把握できるのか現在調査中である。 ツツジは4-5月。ジャカランダも同様の時期に満開を迎えるので花の見頃は春。 しかし様々な品種が植えられているため、全季節に応じて何かしらの花を見ることが出来る。

気を付けなければならないのは、移動手段である。 車で来る人がほとんどであろうが、伊豆箱根バスに関しては熱海市街へ降りる 最終バスは16：42であるため、春から秋にかけては日没まで待っているとバス停に 戻るころには最終が出てしまっている場合がある。 常に余裕を持って行動していないと自力下山を強いられることになる。 その場合は笹良ケ台町まで降りれば循環バスが通っているので夜でも動いてるバスに 乗ることが可能だ。

今回メインで探索したツツジ園に関してですが植木がある程度駆られていて、整地用のためと思われるが子供は迷路だと思ってスイスイ入っていく可能性がある。 背丈が小さいと埋もれてしまうので親は目を光らせておく必要性があり。 整地用の道となっているため、転倒してしまうと植物の枝に肌を切ったり枝に刺さる危険もある。 単純に傾斜が急なため結構な高さを転がり落ちることになる。 コンクリートなどは極一部な為、致命的な怪我は負う可能性は低い者の油断はしてはならない。

入口の小屋は緊急避難場所として天候悪化時の避難先として有効。 水道も生きており、小屋の端には完全屋内部分がある。 電気も生きているが夕方以降も使えるようになっているかは未確認。 猪の侵入防止のため、ツツジ園全体が電磁線で覆われてい...
