Going to Hello Kitty Apple House wasn’t really planned for my trip but since it was on the way to Hello Kitty smile we decided to stopover there first.
The shuttle bus from Iwaya Port will bring you to the carpark below the Apple House. You need to walk up the hill yourself. Note there is no “bus stop” so it was kind of a run to where ever the shuttle bus stopped even though we were already waiting for the bus on our departure from Apple House.
I forgot the ticket price but there’s a few options. We took the one with the tea time set meal snack & show since we happened to be there in time. I think it was 2:30pm.
Of course, if you’re a hello kitty fan like me, everything would be cute and magical. But I feel that the sparkle was dampened by the rather curt staff who were manning the photo taking. They kept insisting One Group One Photo. But it’s just me & my friend. Literally if we chose to sit separately we wouldn’t be a group. We came from overseas. Fly all the way and travel there for hello kitty. The majority of everyone else was local Japanese. They refused to let each of us take photos with hello kitty. It HAD to be in a group. And they chased us away. Pretty upsetting. Literally they could just give us 10 seconds and individual photos would be snapped. Nobody is asking hello kitty for 10 minutes. Not even 5 minutes. Even 1 minute isn’t too long to ask for since we flew and traveled hours to see Hello Kitty. We really felt disrespected as guests.
We also went to Hello Kitty smile & hello Kitty universal studios. The staff were all very kind and understanding. They allowed us to snap quick individual photos. Those were precious photos to us.
Frankly, the food - all vegan desserts , and drinks were so-so. We didn’t come for the food. We came for Hello Kitty but we felt our purpose was badly disrespected.
The rest of hello Kitty Apple house is just merchandise selling (mainly made in China) and photo spots only. The show when we went was the autumn hello kitty piano show for autumn. It was ok, mainly music played by the musicians, hello kitty only came out at the end for 2-3 songs and photo taking. Not very long. Less than 20 min.
Even as a huge fan of hello kitty, I’m not so sure about this spot. I’d like to see hello kitty here again in different seasons. But I wish the staff would be kinder and more respectful to guests who made good effort and paid good money to come see hello kitty.
Update March 2025: I wanted to visit again for the spring show but after discovering from March 21, prices for teatime cafe show increased JPY500, and the show doesn’t include a dessert anymore! Only a drink! Price up and reduced service… we decided not to go. Second time disappointed...
