Seven Stars Tree — Attraction in Biei

The Seven Stars Tree in Biei is an iconic sight known for its picturesque beauty, or fukei. This lone oak tree stands proudly in the middle of vast fields, creating a stunning backdrop that has made it a favorite photo spot for visitors. It gained national fame after appearing in a popular tobacco commercial for Seven Stars cigarettes, which is how it earned its name. Surrounded by Biei’s rolling hills and colorful fields, the Seven Stars Tree captures the serene, open landscape that defines the area’s charm.

Although I visited Seven Stars Tree in winter, it still possesses its charm even if it doesn't have its beautiful lush...

We took a slight detour to visit this spot on our way to Shirahige waterfall.

Compared to other famous tree spots in the Biei area, I found this particular spot to be lacking. While the scenery was still pleasant, it didn't quite live up to the hype surrounding some of the other tree locations in the area.

If you're short on time and can only visit a few spots, I might recommend prioritizing some of the other famous tree spots first. However, if you have the time and are a dedicated fan of tree photography, this spot might still be worth...

It is a tree. Its claim to fame is having been featured on a cigarette packaging about 50 years ago. If you were not a smoker then, you would not appreciate the reference.

You can however, admire its age and the shade it provides on a hot summer day, being one of the only publicly accessible trees in the farmland.

There is free parking across the road, very popular with tourists.
