Forest Adventure Chichibu — Attraction in Chichibu

Really nice staff - they know just a little English, but are extremely willing to provide extra care and patience to those who need it.

The introduction/guide was all in Japanese and unfortunately there wasn't a written explanation - basically it's:

1. Follow the metal "track" with the strongest device (it has two wheels and moves smoothly along the track - and passes through "checkpoints" only at a certain angle. You just need to make sure you have this on at the start of each section 2.1) Put your red hook onto the red ropes for support, or 2.2) on top of the metal track roller device (better distributes weight on the ropes)
2. When climbing, attach the blue hook to the blue hook on your belt.

The colour coding makes things easy, and people of all ages (kids, old grandpa's, everything between - so long as they're over 140cm tall, I think!) can have fun.

Bottle holder sachets are freely available to borrow, and vending machines are nearby.

We just did the intro, level 1, and level 3 course - skipping level 2 because a short person in our group found the Amazon Wire (tightrope, with rope to hold above) very challenging. Took us 3 hours with a little break, and we were quite tired from getting to Chichibu so we stopped there.

Small lockers with 4-digit passcodes are available for free.

Gloves can be rented for free. I lost a bit of skin on my finger from the zip line, so in retrospect I'd have rented some gloves too.

For 3300 yen (£25) I think we had a lot of fun and it was a great change of physical activity from walking during my holiday in Japan.

The bus takes about 20 minutes there/back from chichibi, and wasn't too crowded for us (Friday, summer hols).

You can reserve online, or on phone (you might get lucky and be able to reserve a spot even if the website shows its fully booked). I'm not sure if they speak English...

As the tourism ambassador of Chichibu, I came to experience this forest adventure for the first time ! Great experience with all my friends to celebrate my birthday ! The adventure course is approximately 1h30-2h and it’s really fun to do in a group! We were 7 of us and we had great fun 🤩!

You have to reserve in advance online. And pay by CASH ONLY (¥3800 per person ) on location ( be careful ). This time the lady at the counter wasn’t the nicest and I was disappointed for this part of the experience.

You need LONG PANTS and covered shoes and ideally clothes that can get dirty !! Also I advice you to have bug repellent and bring gloves 🧤 for the grip (if not they sell it for ¥300) actually not bad !

You have to read an explanation on IPad on how to do first and then do some first trial and you’ll be ready.

My friends were afraid of heights but I think it’s a great place to overcome your fear of heights as you will were either way a harness that will protect you from falling !

If you feel to sick you can always quit in the middle of adventure but it’s great fun to continue !!

It’s about 12 min cab ride (¥2600) from the Seibu Chichibu station. You should reserve w cab For the way back to the station as there are no cabs for the forest adventure. Or you can take the bus but it takes off only every half hour so makes it more difficult…

Kids too young can’t do it so watch out !

秩父の森にあるフォレストアドベンチャーに行ってきました。東京から少し足を延ばすだけで、まるで別世界に迷い込んだような自然の中で、本格的なアスレチックとジップラインを体験できるのは、本当に贅沢な休日の過ごし方だと思います。

最初はスタッフさんの説明を聞きながら練習コースで器具の扱い方を覚えるのですが、想像以上にしっかり安全面が整えられていて安心しました。高所は少しドキドキしましたが、命綱を自分で操作して進む感覚が新鮮で、逆にその緊張感が楽しさに変わっていきました。森の中の丸太を渡ったり、ロープにぶら下がったり、バランス感覚と腕力を試されるポイントが続き、普段あまり使わない筋肉を総動員する感じ。翌日はしっかり筋肉痛になりましたが、それすらも「頑張った証」として嬉しかったです。

特に最高だったのはジップライン。全部で何本もあり、それぞれ高さや長さが違うので飽きることがありません。最後の一本はとにかく長くて高く、滑り出した瞬間に風を切る音と森の景色が一気に広がって、子どものように声を出して笑ってしまいました。着地もなかなかスリルがあって、成功したときは思わずガッツポーズ。爽快感と達成感が一度に味わえます。

服装に関しては口コミ通りで、かなり汚れます。落ち葉や木の粉で髪の毛にもゴミがつくし、ズボンや靴は確実に土だらけ。私は長袖長ズボンで行きましたが、終わる頃には汗も泥もついていました。必ず着替えを持って行くべきです。女性は髪をまとめておくと快適。軍手もあった方が安心です。私はレンタルを利用しましたが、手ぶらでも対応できるのはありがたいですね。

参加者の年齢層も幅広く、小学生から年配の方まで挑戦していました。私の前を進んでいた小学生の女の子が怖がりながらも挑戦して乗り越えていく姿に勇気をもらったし、70代くらいのおじいちゃんがお孫さんと一緒に楽しんでいるのも素敵でした。家族連れはもちろん、友達同士やカップルでも盛り上がれる場所です。

所要時間は私の場合、休憩を挟みながら2時間ほど。混雑具合によって待ち時間が出ることもあるようですが、私が行ったのは朝早めだったので比較的スムーズに回れました。予約制なので安心ですし、駐車場も広いのでアクセスも良いです。

何より印象的だったのは、スタッフさんの存在。コースの途中途中で声をかけてくれたり、励ましてくれたりするだけでなく、困っている人がいればすぐに駆けつけて助けてくれる。その温かさとプロフェッショナルさがあってこそ、みんな安心して挑戦できるんだと思います。

東京に住んでいると、自然の中で全身を使って遊ぶ機会はなかなかありません。デスクワークで体が固まっている私にとって、ここでの体験はリフレッシュそのもの。終わったあとの温泉も格別で、まるで自分にご褒美をあげたような充実した1日になりました。

高いところが苦手な人には少し勇気が必要かもしれませんが、挑戦してみればきっと忘れられない思い出になります。子どもの頃のように夢中になって遊びたい人、自然に包まれて心と体を解放したい人に、心からおすすめできる場所です。

次は友達を誘ってまた行きたいし、新しいコースができるという話もあるので、リピート確定です。日本で暮らすようになってから、こういう「自然を舞台にした冒険」ができる場所に出会えたことが本当に嬉しいです。都会の便利さとは全然違う、泥んこになって汗をかいて、思いっきり笑える時間。大人になってからもこんな風に遊べるなんて、日本に来てよかったと...
