No signboard to show the direction to this lodging place and we reached around noon. Had our lunch and asked us to leave the place and they closed it till 4pm which is the only time they start to let hikers checking in. Everyone is waiting outside in the cold win for them to open. For dinner, they didn’t ask if there is anyone who can’t take beef. We asked when they serve the curry if there is beef and they said we should have told them during check in but in the end they still cook a veggie one for us who can’t take beef. The next morning light on at 3ish am and they start rushing us to eat breakfast and chase us out of the room by throwing our stuff out of the room and shut the lights off without giving a heads up. They asked us to bring all our gears out to watch sunrise and they closed the whole place. Only after the sunrise, they opened the place only to start selling cup noodles and souvenirs to incoming hikers but had no sympathy to us who stayed there for the past night to accommodate us longer. Toilet smells really bad btw. Poor experience and hospitality for 8000 yen a person. Their attitude is pretty rude to foreigners. If I were to go Mount Fuji again, I will choose the hut at 8th station and wake up earlier the next morning to go to the summit...
Read more!!!!! Take my advice and choose another lodge at lower level.. like 8 / 9 / 9.5 !!!!! Trust me…
I chose this place for easier hiking the next morning for sunrise. Yes it served its purpose to give me an easier walk to the top (around 250m). But the night I spent therein was nightmare with reasons as below:
Beds are too pack by sharing one attic area with over 40 people and no partition… you or others need to walk over beds to go to toilet at night (totally no corridor or any buff area). People also snored… so you can imagine They turn off electricity at 19:00. The attic area had one normal fan and one exhaust fan to “bump” fresh air from ground level to the attic… BUT they turn everything off at 19:00. There was NO circulation and you can’t breathe while trying to rest. They started serving breakfast at 04:00… so you wake up around that hours…. From 19 to 4, I experienced the worst 9 hours of my life with no oxygen and sweating.
Other highlights: The toilet was horrible but I couldn’t compare becoz I never tried others. At least they should give u some water to pour into the bowl…
Vending machine items all sold out too (only bottle water available)… so if you want any soft drinks.. get it from other lodge before...
Read moreTerrible experience, no signboards whatsoever to the area so extremely hard to find, was late 30 minutes to the room and the man didn’t provide dinner for us. Also no breakfast for the next day as well. Extremely bad hospitality, and slight discrimination as well since we cannot speak Japanese! Owner rather serve Japanese speakers first than accommodate to us although reached first. Had to make us stay in the cold weather waiting. We had children and we said we could pay for the meals although he didn’t provide it. Owner didn’t care and just let us starve. Toilet had really bad smell, could smell it even from the sleeping areas. Area also low maintenance and overall the worst lounge I had ever been to. Do not recommend this and never ever come here. Discriminating owner, rude attitude, and low maintenance. I really thought the Japanese were well known for their great hospitality but this experience had really left...
