Lake Tanuki Observation Deck — Attraction in Fujinomiya

Visited on 22 May 2025. very serene, with minimal crowd. lots of locals go there to fish. make sure you check the weather and the live camera to catch fuji san. i arrived around 4pm+ with a relatively clear sky and it was the perfect timing to catch the reflection of Fujisan in the lake. the Mt Fuji Heritage Center is an inverted spitting image of this exact scene. I stayed till just past 5pm hoping to catch some sunset light cast on Fujisan, but had to leave to catch the last bus back to the city. the low sunlight shone...

Beautiful lake with 6km of trail going around it. Many people were fishing and grilling. There were many birds, fish, plants, and insects (though none were biting or stinging that we encountered) so it is a great place to go for a nature enthusiast. There was a small general store where you could get a snack or a small lunch and the people working there were very pleasant. A bus runs from the nearby hotel to take you back to more...

Actually we couldn’t find the tanuki deck 😂 We saw the signs and followed it up a bit but it was all overgrown and covered in spiders. We thought it can’t be that good of a deck if the pathway there isn’t maintained and not one person walked it before us on a busy day.
