I have been to Miyajima and enjoyed the nature and decided to walk all the way to the temple which takes about 45_60min. The hike is amazing and way even for beginner. Stunning views of the sea side, the mountain, botanic gardens, birds... very peaceful very quiet. The temple itself is nothing special maybe it will make more sense and emotuon for someone bouddhiste but i was not impressed at all. Also keep in mind that the temple is in the middle of nowhere. There is no toilets no water like in other temple so make sure you are prepared. The hike was well worth it...

The hike to the temple is an exercise in understanding the fundamentals of karma. On the walk there, you will experience the bliss of a long relaxing cruise downhill; your return, however, will be a grueling uphill slog.
