Hiji Castle, also known as Yokoku Castle, Aoyagi Castle, and Ukitsu Castle, is a castle located in Hiji, Ōita Prefecture, Japan. The construction of the castle began in 1601, under Kinoshita Nobutoshi's orders, when he was transferred to Hiji from Himeji.

2025年1月21日 大分県日出城址 JR九州日豊本線暘谷駅下車後、海側へ徒歩8分位の所に有ります。日出町教育委員会「日出城址」由緒書きを以下に記載します。 ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー 日出城は、別府湾を望む低台地上に築かれた階新式の平山城です。別名「場谷城」ともいわれ、三代藩主俊長が中国の古『准南子』或いは『書経』より引用し、命名したといわれています。 日出藩木下家は、全国でも数少ない豊臣秀吉ゆかりの大名で、初代藩主木下延後の父家定の妹おね（高台院）が秀吉の正室（妻）となったため、木下姓を許されました。 慶長六年（一六〇一）八月、日出に入国した延後は、幕府の許可を得て、日出城の築城に着手。翌七年八月には概ね完成し、延後は築城する間、領内藤原村に設けていた仮館を離れ、日出城に入城を果たしました。 日出城は、本丸を中心に二ノ丸、三ノ丸、外郭を重ねた構えをなし、廓は堀により仕切られ、要所には、城門が設けられました。明治四年 （八七一）の庭菜置県以降、鬼門様と素門橋を除き、城内の建物は、次々と取り壊されました。 ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー 城址には小学校が建築されておりますので、全体像が分かりづらいですが、整然と積み上げられた石垣や内堀に櫓、海辺の公園整備など素晴らしい城郭で有る事がわかります。海城のイメージとしては杵築城を更に大きくした感じかな？此処の学舎では先人達の薫陶を受け継ぎ子供達は大志を懐いた...
