Seizansō — Attraction in Hitachiota

Nice place but too expensive for what it offers. 1000 yens for a 20 minutes visit at best, it's not really worthy despite the historical significance of the site. I should also add that most of the structure has been refurbished with brand new material and it's quite hard to feel something genuine.

Edit: it seems the admission fees were raised which is unlikely to improve the general evaluation. I'm taking...

It's a historical place and a nice garden for different seasons. The fee is 1500 yen for adults. I feel like I have made a donation to this project. They recommend to use a smartphone app as a guide in 3 languages. However I have difficulty to drive there, Google maps did not show correct way. I may come again in fall to enjoy red leaves in the water garden...

If you happen to be in Hitachi - Ota area, this is the thing to go to. Preserved ancient historical residence. The entrance also has a pretty Japanese style park. There is also a small souviner shop at the park entrance.

Ask a local guide how to walk in. Taxis may also be usable from the train station.
