If you are in the Kurondo Pond area, and looking to explore some Japanese history, then a stroll up to the site of the Takayama-jo Castle. It's a nice strill, offering a nice view at the site. Take a bite-to-eat & drink and sit at one of the benches and enjoy the surroundings. The track to-and-from the site is in good condition and suitable for all types of walkers.The path is also well signposted.

The trek is not too long but perhaps may proof challenging to those who are more sedentary. The ruins itself is small but the slow walk and feeling of being surrounded by trees and bamboos is refreshing

駐車場はほぼ無いので、近くの「高山竹林園」さんに車を止めて、事務所的なところで「車を止めて高山城跡にいってもよいか？」と聞くと、快くOKしていただき、裏道も教えてくださいました。 徒歩１５分くらいでしょうか（自分は走りました）、田園風景を抜けると、入口があります。遊歩道はきれいに整備されています。ただ竹藪が多くて薄暗く、夏場などは、蛇が出てきそうで怖いかもしれません。 本丸跡まで上ると、塔がありますが、地震で倒れたのか、結構なカオス感です。見晴らしは良く、ここに城があれば、敵の侵入を察知できるのか、など、昔への妄想が膨らみます。 ほぼ貸し切りなので、ゆっくりできてよいですよ。

生駒市高山町と言えば、必ず「茶筅の里」と紹介されます。この地を治め、南都を中心に活躍した鷹山氏が考案した茶道具は、今もこの土地の名産品となっています。

高山城址の山頂部には立派な十三重石塔が祀られていて、これだけでも必見の価値はありますが、それだけでは物足りないとする向きには、くろんど池からの古道歩きをおススメします。くろんど池東端から九頭神川と富雄川源流部に挟まれた林の中を歩き明るい田園地帯に出ると、目前に南近江線197号の送電鉄塔がそびえています。鉄塔を横目に道なりに進むと、田んぼの傍らに「高山城址へ」の道標が立っています。そこから再び竹林の広がる山道を進むと、先年整備された高山城の遊歩道へ出ることができ、山頂部まで通じています。迷うところはありません。
