Awesome place.
So this was not in my initial plan, I thought it will be okay however we visited this place out of surprise to ourself🤣
Real Destination- New York Lamp Museum
Forest path out side of NYLM, now there are two ways of you want some extra stress on your leg and want to just on rocks near the ocean then take the long route, if you are just looking for forest walk and direct reach to the destination then go for the small path- I personally liked the small path it's peaceful but may be teens and kids will like the long one.
Walk is good so have your camera with you.
Now there are three things to see one is the suspension bridge second is the rocky coat ( long route) next is the light house view.
Parking area is big 2 parking is available. Not sure about the charges. It's nice place to visit. Fresh air and blue sky...
Read moreGreat view of waves crashing against the steep cliffs along the Jogasaki coastline. The cliffs were formed by a large lava flow that reached the ocean from a nearby volcano, Mt. Omuro. The lava flowed (approx. 4,000 years ago) to the sea and cooled when hitting the sea surface creating columnar joints. Some of the volcanic rock near the sea stack has varying shades of dark gray and black columnar joints indicating that the magma flowed directly into the sea and cooled rapidly. Conversely, the red volcanic rock appears to be scoria, which indicates magma with dissolved gas that may have cooled and solidified on the surface of an older lava flow. A video of my visit to this site can be found at the YouTube...
Read moreThere are many different possible routes to take to reach this place. I walked from Izu Kaigan Station to Futo Station mostly along the coast. The paths are well marked and maintained, although sections are currently under reconstruction. The views of the ocean through the forest trees are often spectacular. The sound of the waves crashing, and birds singing, is fantastic. For most of my route there were no other people, except for the section aound the suspension bridge and lighthouse which had a lot of visitors. There are occasional benches to sit and relax, and there are toilets at both stations and near the lighthouse. The section at the end becomes a road walk, so be aware of...
