Chojagahara Archaeological Museum — Attraction in Itoigawa

Nice little museum detailing the archaeological history of the Chojagahara Site and Itoigawa Region. The museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts, many dating back to the neolithic era, including jade beads, stone tools, and pottery. 地図上ではフォッサマグナミュージアムと併設ですが、思ったより距離がありました。 場所もしないから近いですが山の中。 行き止まりの道路がありだいぶ迂回して行きました。 考古館はとても良かったです。 まだ遺跡の10%しか発掘できていないとのことで、これからの調査に期待大です。 古代アジア全域で出土した勾玉の産地がここ糸魚川であり、国内外の流通規模を示すとともにその重要性は糸魚川市のみならず日本全体の宝だと思います。 硬度の高い勾玉の加工を縄文人が可能にしたこと、余剰労働力を生み出していること、奴奈川姫を中心とした出雲、諏訪との関係も地理的に納得。 古代大和王朝に対抗した国津神系の出雲、越、諏訪連合王国があったことが伺えます。 縄文から古代全体にまたがる巨大王国の片鱗が翡翠を追うことで見えてきて感慨深いものがありました。 翡翠もなかなか見つけるのが大変です。 古代人がそれを識別、加工していたこと、各村の主張がもつものとして権威材以外にもどのような精神性を宿していたのか考えさせられます。

諏訪の本を描きましたが、ここ糸魚川を中心とした話でまた次作検討したいと思います。
