Ryusendo Cave (龍泉洞, Ryūsendō) is one of Japan's three major limestone caves, located in the town of Iwaizumi in Iwate Prefecture. It's renowned for its stunning underground scenery, including crystal-clear underground rivers and impressive stalactites and stalagmites.
The cave is particularly famous for its deep, blue subterranean lakes, which are some of the clearest in the world, with water so pure it appears almost surreal. The cave stretches over 5 kilometers, though only a portion of it is open to the public for tours. It’s a popular destination for both tourists and researchers due to its geological and natural significance.
Ryusendo Cave is part of a larger cave system, with multiple levels and underground features. In addition to its natural beauty, the cave is historically important, as it has been a sacred site in the local area for centuries. Thank you very much to God Almighty(Allah) for showing us such...
Read moreAbout a 30 minute experience for most people. The standout feature of this cave is its underground lakes, which are as deep as something like 50 metres. Most refreshing and tastiest water I ever had, came from the same source as that of the underground lakes. You don't need special gear, just regular walking shoes and clothes that withstand 10C temperature. There is a set of stairs but very manageable even for my friend who had a little knee pain. You can always turn back to...
Read moreAwesome cave. Lovely stalagmites /stalagtites, and beautiful lakes. Too bad they were a bit cloudy due to the heavy rains. Cave is cool and humid year round, so bring a sweater/jacket. Lots of drips from the ceiling so don't be surprised if you get hit by a few drops, it is totally worth it. The bat/dragon/rabbit merchandise is good. They sell the water but you can also just fill your own bottle at the free spigot. Also it is one of the pokemon sewer cover locations if you are looking for them. Some wooden dragon carvings are their as photo ops, the bridge with dragons is also nice. There is a lunch place across the road and small restaurant on sight. When I went there were also food tents outside. Easy place to spend a couple of hours enjoying a beautiful cave...
