"The Yaramuruchi Legend, located on the border of Kadena Town and Okinawa City, Yara Muruchi is in the mountains of Yara Hirayamabaru. The legend reveals that in the era of King Gihon, there was a giant serpent inhabiting an old march known as Moroki in Chatan Magiri's Yara Village. The serpent brought calamity to the villagers and to quell the calamity, the villagers offered young girls as sacrifices. One year, a girl was chosen as a human offering in order to save the neighboring villages, during the ritual a deity appeared and slew the giant serpent. When hearing this incident, King Gihon became full with joy and crowned the girl as a wife for the prince..." So I ran into this mystical place by accident while running this morning. Prior knowing the story about this place, I walked right down to the edge of the pond and right away you can feel the serenity and the mythical aura in this place.
