Hinode Park Lavender Garden — Attraction in Kamifurano

Hinode Park Lavender Garden, located in Kamifurano, Hokkaido, is a captivating destination renowned for its expansive lavender fields. Often hailed as the birthplace of lavender cultivation in Japan, the park is a historic landmark of Japanese floriculture. The garden's lavender fields span approximately 4.2 hectares, with the best viewing period from late June to late July. One of the park's highlights is the 360-degree panoramic observatory, offering sweeping views of the Tokachi mountain range and the Furano Basin. A popular spot within the park is the "Bell of Love," where couples come to declare their love, set against the backdrop of the lavender fields. The park also features an auto-campground and cottages, making it a suitable base for outdoor enthusiasts.

Each July, Hinode Park hosts the "Lavender Festa Kamifurano," a festival celebrating the lavender season. In 2025, the event will feature a light-up period from July 12th to 21st, illuminating the lavender fields from 19:30 to 21:30. On July 19th, the festival will include stage events, food and drink stalls, and group exhibitions, providing a magical nighttime experience.

Hinode Park is set on a hill overlooking Furano. On one side there is the free observatory overlooking Furano and a lavender covered slope. There is a playground and carpark at the base of the slopestyle and on the other side there is a campsite. The Kamifurano Pokemon lid is in the playground area.
