It's the most famous tourist attraction in Kannonji City. The "Kan'ei Tsuho" sand paintings that seem to have suddenly appeared in the pine forests of Kotodama Park are a sight to behold for all visitors. It's said to have been created overnight by local volunteers in 1633 to welcome the envoy of Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu. Today, it's regularly maintained by local volunteers. To see the sand paintings, visitors can either get up close to them or look down from the observatory. Visitors can approach the perimeter of the sand paintings, but are not allowed to enter them. When you see it up close, you can only see a huge heap of sand spread out before your eyes, and it would be difficult to understand what it is unless you have information about it beforehand. On the other hand, looking down from the observatory, one can see the whole picture of the sand painting. For environmental preservation, there are no restaurants or stores around the sand paintings. It seems that bringing in food and drink is not prohibited, but there are no garbage cans around the area, so you need to take your garbage home with you or throw it in a nearby...
