2025.8.9 炎天酷暑の週末、家内を連れて初訪問。城山住宅地麓に静かに広がる公園。夏の盛りの昼時だから来訪者は殆ど見えず、わたしたちのほかには周回路を散歩する女性がひとりだけ。 遠い昔、わたしはこの近くに住んでいた。友達と自転車を駆って遊びまわっていた子供の頃、この公園があるあたりは一面宅地造成されながらも買い手がつかず半ば放置された場所だったが、わたしの家族が隣県へ転居した後、1990年代に函南町が取得し今の形に整備したのだそう。一見して相当な資金と労力が投入され今でも緻密に管理運営が継続されていることがわかる。 横穴群のエリアも興味深く巡ったがとてもよく整備されており見応えがあった。素晴らしい公園、そして史跡。 …わたしの周囲ではもう多くの時間が過ぎ去った。すでに還らない人々も多くなった。隔世の感一入。 陽光強く照りつける夏の庭に立ち、思えばきょう8月9日は…わたしの誕生日だった。

家族連れが多く集まる公園です。 公園内には広々と使える芝生広場があり、遊具、ベンチ、屋根付きのテーブルと椅子、水飲み場、男女分かれたトイレ、数十台停められる駐車場を完備！ 芝生広場ではレジャーシートを敷いてお弁当を楽しみ、食後には子供たちが遊具で遊び、笑い声がこだましています。 公園内には整備された小川があり、水遊びが楽しめます。 そのため、夏場はとくに多くの人でにぎわいを見せる公園です。 公園目の前には自動販売機が完備されているのでジュースの購入も可。 車で数分離れた場所にはコンビニがあるのでお弁当などの購入もできて便利な立地にあります。
