The name is TOKYO International University, but all club activities are forced to be held at the Saitama Campus, which is 1-2 hours away from where students go to classes and live. How do the university expect students to join club activities after class if they're expected to travel 2 hours back and forth to do so?? The university's reason is because the Ikebukuro campus is "only restricted for studying", which is absurd, ridiculous and honestly nonsensical because this campus is rented as a studio monthly for a drama shooting. Classes were cancelled because the facility was used to shoot a film, while academic seminars, study groups and student-led activities are all declined. Everyone who is breathing under the roof of this school is frustrated because of how the executives manage it. I and many others feel like the head of the university does NOT care about students' academic success, postgraduate opportunity, or anything that has to do with student growth at all. It seems they only care about money and getting as many students as possible, regardless of their academic background or ethics, so that they can get money from them. Half of the students in the E-Track program, the program specifically taught in English, cannot even speak English. On the graduation day, students' families are not allowed into the hall to watch their children graduate. The FACULTY was not invited to the graduation ceremony - what kind of absurdity is that? They just opened a gym inside the Ikebukuro campus to show that they cArE about students' wellbeing (or maybe make more money out of the subcriptions lol), but when students ask if they can host a reading group event for students and teachers to discuss a BOOK, nope. Take a 1-hour train to Saitama and you can talk whatever book you want to (and also while we're talking about books, the TIU library has like 2 books and 3 academic journals in in).
There are so many more things to say, I can go on for 1000 pages but I am so fed...
Read moreTIU wasted my time, energy, and money (2.3K USD enrollment fee). I got admitted to TIU. But they cancelled my admission because I didn't pay the tuition fee (5.7k USD) by the deadline. I did not pay by the deadline because TIU wanted me to pay it before receiving my student visa. And there was no guarantee my student visa would be granted by the Japanese Immigration. I could lose much money. I was very anxious about that. TIU does not have a Refund Policy on their website. I got admitted on Dec 19, 2022. I asked for instructions on what to do next but TIU ignored my emails until more than 3 weeks later (Jan 13, 2022). Their first email instruction was a threat saying I might not get my student visa on time because it would take 2 or 3 months for the immigration to process my student visa, and if it would not be granted by March 27, 2023, TIU would cancel my admission. And TIU never mentioned refunding my money if my student visa gets rejected. All these things intensified my anxiety that I would lose 5.7k USD tuition fee if I paid by the deadline which was on Jan 19, 2023 because I had only 2 months to obtain the student visa. So, I decided to pay the enrollment fee only after receiving my student visa. Why would I pay 5.7k USD when there was a big chance I would NOT receive my student visa? I would just lose all that money.
But on Jan 20, 2023, the day after the deadline, TIU cancelled my admission because I did not pay the 5.7k USD tuition fee. I offered to immediately pay on the same day if they can guarantee me a refund of 5.7K USD if my student visa gets rejected. But TIU refused my offer and TIU did not refund my 2.3k USD enrollment fee. TIU ripped me off. I just did what was sensible. It was all TIU's mistake. TIU's enrollment procedure is similar to a scam. I am happy I did not pay the 5.7k USD tuition fee. I could have also...

Too expensive. not really friendly towards students who struggle financially. Having a part time job is crucial. Yeah you can get 30% off on tuition fees but lose it once if you are demotivated or have learning struggles, lose it forever. No chance in getting it back even if you become best in classes later.
There is too much free time. You may pay between 465-700k yen for one semester (one semester is spring and one semester is the autumn) You have school holidays Jan-March and late July to end of August. It's weird to pay soo much when you have so much free time in one year. Good for those who wants to be lazy though. Can't really afford to have fun and enjoy Japan with so high tuition fees. But I guess that's how they're financing building the 3rd campus in Ikebukuro which seems unnecessary because it's not like the 1st and 2nd campus has every classroom filled up. Oh btw, the Ikebukuro building seems to be exclusive for the English track students so Japanese and international students are likely to be separated so becoming friends with Japanese students will become more difficult for those who wants to.
Better off finding another school that's not as...
