I went there a year ago but I want to write a review since it’s a really nice place. You can walk around the temple and see mountains. It’s a bit pricey because there are many places to see autumn leaves for free in gunma. But leaves reflected on the shiny floor is very instagramable. I couldn’t go there this year unfortunately but I hope I can visit there again next year.

Beautiful place with several themed festivals that are worth a visit. I went for the wind chime festival. It was hot but a refreshing wind blew all the time. There's a little building to buy things that's air conditioned and in front was a big ventilator. There's a small parking lot down the road to the temple. I think there are more lots in the area.

Recommend : It’s not crowded in Golden Week. This is a small temple, which gives a deep impression. The staff are very friendly. You can see the blooming peony flowers, Bodhisattva. I like to come to such a wonderland in Golden Week. Recommend the corn that can be bought there. It is very sweet and juicy. Entry fee : ¥800 / person

群馬県は桐生市に有ります「宝徳寺」です。 宇都宮市〜桐生市を流れる旅で訪問です。 ここは漆を塗りピカピカに磨き上げた床に、庭の紅葉を映す「床紅葉」で有名な古刹です。 残念ながら秋の紅葉の時期では無く、正月明けの次の週の連休で訪れました。 たまたま開放されていた時期の最終日でした。調べずに行ったのでラッキーでしたね。 この開放期間ではカラフルな和傘で飾り付けたり、床に和傘を置き姿を映したりする開放期間でした。非常に良かったです。ツイてる。 あとは漆塗りの床の間には龍の襖絵も二つ有ります。これも非常に良い。 また、この古刹には美しい枯山水庭園も有ります。この枯山水庭園も小さいながら美しく見応え有りました。本当に訪れて良かったです。桐生市なにげに良い街です。 因みにハート型の窓は「猪目窓」といい、魔除け厄除けの効果が有るらしいです。写真を撮り携帯の待ち受け画面にすると良いとの事です。 （今回の開放は「和傘と猪目窓」という開期でした) 宝徳寺の正確な創建年は不明ですが、鎌倉時代末期以来この地を治めた桐生(佐野)氏の桐生正綱という武将が開基となり、室町時代の宝徳年間(西暦1450年ごろ)に創建されたと伝わります。 確か近くの桐生天満宮も、鎌倉時代末期から南北朝時代に生きた桐生綱元という武将によって、他の場所から今の場所に移つされてますね。 桐生氏は長らくこの地で力を持っていた一族なのですね。因みに悲しい事ですが…繁栄の後には衰退有りで、台頭して来た由良氏という一族との争いで、残念ながら桐生氏は大名家としては滅びた様です。何時の時代も栄枯盛衰ですね。 ここは小ぢんまりしていますが本当に素晴らしい古刹です。文句無し星5つですね。次は絶対に紅葉の時期に訪れようと思いました。 必ず漆塗りの床室の開放時期を調べてから、是非に訪れる事を強くオススメします。素晴らしい。 次は4月~5月の「春もみじ」辺りに開放する様です。

Place looks new, maybe recently renovated? Shrine seems to be done up to attract young visitors; vibrant with lots of colors and cute jizou地蔵 Kind of interesting to watch people bow real low for photo at the main area instead of bowing to the Buddha behind them 😅

Good place for photography. You can visit by bus. If you are coming by car, It is a 3 to 4-minute walk from the parking. There was enough space for the parking. Anyway, there were 2nd parking spaces also but a little bit ahead. Parking was free.
