Well maintained - free parking and nice trails. You can walk to the blue color bishamon pond from there (though there is closer parking as well, it's just 5min walk) Considering there might be bears around, we were feeling more confident entering the trail from the visiting center side as there were more people around. Dogs allowed on the trail (though the sign on the visiting center says they don't recommend taking pets on trails considering the bears might feel intimidated.)
