Yanaginuma Pond（Goshikinuma Ponds） — Attraction in Kitashiobara

Absolutely beautiful in snow. I visited here also in the summer and autumn. Today December 27. There is enough snow to look really pretty. I walked with winter snow boots. the trail was slightly trampled so I wasn't walking on fresh snow. the drive here the roads are clear of snow. Be careful very early in the morning as maybe icy. the shuttle buses seem to be operating also. I didn't see anyone else while I was walking though. Tour group with snowshoes were entering as I left. I entered the trail from both sides. I think the one near the lake is the better option as you see more ponds in the beginning, it takes an hour each way to hike the whole thing, so I just hiked a little way in from both sides. Please note that the shops and souvenir shop is not open by the pond entrance. I then took a warming Onsen at the Hotel just a few minutes from the car park entrance to the pond. 裏磐梯物産館脇にあるのが柳沼です。物産館から入るなら最初の、毘沙門沼から来たならゴールにあたる沼となります。

他の沼と比較すると水面の色はさほど特別には見えませんが、対岸の木々が水面に映りこんでいます。特に風が凪いだ時は美しいです。

水が遊歩道の橋の下を流れて来ていますが、そちらの趣ある緑色の沼は母沼です。弥六沼から父沼、母沼経由で柳沼まで流れています。 道行く人を見ていると母沼の方が人気の様ですね…。
