Shimada Museum — Attraction in Kumamoto

宮本武蔵の資料や刀があるな。武蔵研究者ならここは外せないでしょう。無論歴史的には信長や細川家ゆかりのものや。稲冨流の砲術書とかもある、無論歴史的なものに限らない展示会もあって、有意義な時間が過ごせるよ 先年亡くなられた館長は宮本武蔵の研究家であり、あるところで講師をされてた際に宮本武蔵についてすごく貴重なお話をきいたことがあり鄙びたこの地においてすごく興奮させられた覚えはある（現在の館長さんは面識がないので、何ともいえませぬ。ごめんなさい） 思うにこのレビュー他、武蔵好きの海外のサイトをみてると、何故かフランス人が多いのよね。解説にフランス語や、フランス語で語れる方がいると評価はあがるのではないか。と。あるいは、武蔵塚-泰勝寺-引導石-旧居あと-座禅石-ここ島田美術館-西の武蔵塚-霊巌洞、を組み合わせたツアーや解説するといいと思うんだが

Not sure how much of what was on display was either antique or actually Musashi associated. It's a shame such an important historical figure isn't given a more prominent showing. As someone who cannot read Japanese, I struggled with translating half of the displays as only some were...

This is a tiny museum in the outskirts of Kumamoto. Several authentic pieces of history relating to Musashi but the entire area only consists of 2 small rooms. As not all exhibits have an English translation, may not be worth the trip out and 700 yen...
