Beautiful small park, with sparkling little waterfalls and delicious fresh spring water. Also has a playground, fountain, gift shop and a large collection of statues for Kannon worship. Here's what the sign translates to:
"The entire area of Fukidashi Park was once owned by Fujiro Umezawa of Iwanai Town, but was donated to the town through the founder of the current Ryumonji Temple in the early Showa period. When Genryu Matsuda made a wish to make this land a sacred place of Kannon worship, many people from all sects agreed, donating treasures and volunteering their labor, and a total of 54 statues, including the Acala statue enshrined at the spout as the guardian deity of the park, the Kannon Bodhisattva statue, the thirteen Buddha statues, and other statues, were carved by Masanori Ide and his son Masao, who were both renowned as master craftsmen at the time and had deep faith in Kannon, and spent about two years carving them with great passion, forgetting to eat and sleep. These statues are enshrined in order on the banks of the pond, and people at that time would make pilgrimages to each one, starting with the first one, reciting hymns as they went. In particular, a grand memorial service was held on the festival day of August 17th, which was a fun annual event for people at a time when entertainment was scarce.
After that, the Ryumonji Baika group held a memorial service for the statue, but when the park's construction was completed, the town's tourism association and the descendants who inherited the will of their ancestors formed a support group, and the statue was moved to this location and enshrined there, and memorial services will continue to be held every year. This place has taken its first steps as a new famous spot in both name and reality, as a place of relaxation and a place of pilgrimage. Kannon is generally called Kanzeon Bosatsu, and it is said that Kannon changes into 33 forms depending on the place and time to save people suffering from disasters, illnesses, and all other worries and confusion. Since ancient times, Kannon sacred sites have been built all over the country and are still worshipped by people. The thirteen Buddhas are the five most representative Buddhas, namely Shakyamuni, Amida, Dainichi, Asen, and Yakushi, among the many Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Myo-o, and the seven bodhisattvas, namely Manjusri, Samantabhadra, Jizo, Maitreya, Kannon, Seishi, and Kokuzo, as...
